3.0 out of 5 stars Get away from her, you ...!!
At long last, the Alien Queen is finally here! Originally, I had thought only Kenner/Hasbro would made something close to the original movie toy. I'm pleased McFarlane had chosen to do so, as well, and also raise the bar a bit.

The size is just as big as it says. Menacing, movie-accurate, and just a really nice piece to own and display. There are a few posing points,...

This is by far the best representation of the Alien Queen that I have ever seen outside of the films. The queen is absolutely gorgeous...as gorgeous as a hideous, grotesque monster could ever possibly be!

Completely faithful to the movies, the Queen is rich in detail. She has multiple points of articulation, mainly in the arms and the legs. The legs, which are ball joints, can be moved easily, but initially they may be a little stiff. Her main set of arms are ball joints that can be positioned in a few different ways. Her secondary set of arms are ball-socket joints which can be moved easily, but almost too easily...they will fall out of the socket if you move them too much.

The queen, as was accurately pointed out by another reviewer, can only really stand in one position: a lunging, sort of hunched over position. The holes on the stand are required to stand her up, since she is so very top heavy. That's the other thing: the Queen is HUGE! Its not a bad thing...the size of the Queen makes it a very impressive figure, but the weight of it lends it to be a bit on the delicate side. The pegs on the bottom of her feet are pretty sturdy, and won't break as easily as some other McFarlane products (the Alien vs. Predator set broke within 20 minutes of being unboxed). The Queen's clear sculpted teeth are great, which is a minor yet very good detail that I appreciate. The 'bendy' tail is positioned while it is in the package, and since it spends such a long time in there the bendy tail takes on a permanent position which really is a negative attribute.

The chest burst victim is interesting. With good detail on the victim herself and the cocoon around her, the chestburster is operated through a small knob in the back of the base. You can rotate the chestburster and push it through and pull it back through at your leisure. The base itself is fairly bland but it is meant to be. The Queen is what really stands out in this set, and as I said before, it is by far the best recreation of the Alien Queen outside of the actual movie puppetry.

The bottomline: This is for Collectors only. The figure is not meant to be played with and should be handled delicately. It is finely detailed with a great paint job and excellent texture. Be forewarned that, as I mentioned earlier, the secondary arms are prone to falling out (taking down the durability a notch). Otherwise, this figure is excellent and I very highly recommend it to collectors. Consider the 5-star 'Fun' rating a general 'Like' rating...because I think this figure is outstanding, and I'm sure you will too.

This is not really a toy. This is the kind of thing you put on your desk or shelf for the sole reasons of having something cool to look at and for inspiring awe for all those who enter your dwelling. This is inexpensive art at its best. The attention to detail is astounding, which is par for the course whenever you buy something from McFarlane. The durability is an issue for some of the protruding appendages on the Queen's back, but it shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you don't drop her or play with her excessively. That being said, the Queen should only be posed and not played with. Don't buy this for an 8 year old and expect it to survive a week (besides, the Alien movies are all rated R). Definately a buy for fanboys and geeks alike.

This review is from: Alien Queen Box Set (Toy)
In many a future's passed, Aliens toys have been hyped for release, have looked good on paper, and then have been sickening when viewed. This seems to be the poison to many a movie monster, too, because they are prettied up for children to play with, the makers forgetting that the figures aren't some Disney byproduct and are for bigger kids. Normally they have something wrong with the way they look, their faces becoming too cartoonish or their bodies losing the darkness within them, the way they contort, or they simply have some funky action within them that doesn't make sense. Many examples can be included to prove this, too, with the Bull Alien released, the Scorpion Alien, the lovely Guerrilla Alien, and so on.
McFarlane Toys seemed to learn from that failing example, though, and they did something nobody else has done. They've focused on things seen and loved by fans, kicking up the excitement with homage to the original and no gimmicks. And this has rebuilt something that seemed to be DOA in times passed.

In this piece, the Queen Alien looks wonderfully adorable. She has the walk of walks that says that she's not too terribly happy, the face that only a drone could love, and a body that is quite simply large.
Like the image birthed in Aliens, she looks very much the part of the angry mother.
When I first saw it I was impressed by the scale of this beauty, thinking it would be "action figure" sized like the drones that had been released, but it wasn't. The Queen is very much the part, with the size built in just like the movies indicate. That way, when set with the drones, they have a scale that separates the little boys from the fearsome lady.
Added to her are also the ten points of movement, with the tail moving well and the head and legs posing, and the coloration that very much fits the part. If only the mouth would have opened and closed, allowing something to be held, it would have been wonderful. Still, it is a LV-426 dreamer's dream nonetheless.

The other piece provided is a blast from the terraforming past, showcasing what the Colonial Marines saw when they looked into the face of birthing. There's the wall and the substance transforming it into the Alien's hive, its color cobwebbed with organic looks and a concrete sheen, and there's also the human body in it with a chest burster sticking out that decorates it like a much-needed ornament on a shadowy Christmas tree. The body looks pretty good, too, with the skin tone looking ghoulism and that plastic form almost seeming to say, "kill me" right before the eyes.
It could have had more detail to it, though, looking a little bit better to be perfect. The expression could have been exacted and the eyes done exactly right, contorting it all to the horrifying image that goes past the plastics of toydom.
It added in is a nice thing to find, not required but given anyhow, and it helps complete the set despite those tiny objections.

Crowned with a nice little box that shows them both off, it is a keeper both in and out of the packaging and nice to set up. It is also part of a bigger series, too, and all of those toys are well worth picking up. The wonderful Dog Burster from Alien3 is done well, the Warrior Alien is good looking, and the Predator line-up is a nice cap for those gleaming, metallic teeth.
Definitely recommended for anyone wanting to learn a little Xenomorphology.

This is one of the best toys from Mcfarlane toys ever. This is definitely the ultimate Alien Queen figure. Full of detail and some good articulation. It's incredibly large and quite heavy which is good. If you're a fan of Aliens or their designs, this is a must have item. Looks amazing.

The only drawback is that her mouth cannot be opened! So if you want to recreate the scene where her second jaw extends, you won't find it here. Also, there's no joints in her knees or elbows so the potential for more poses is limited. The extra figure with a chestburster is also rather crude and not very good looking compared to the queen. Anyways, the figure is still awesome and it's worth it for the relatively low price.

There are a few posing points, more than Kenner/Hasbro's figure, which include swivel main hands, ball-joint arms, ball-joint legs (thigh connecting to body), ball-joint secondary arms, a ball-point neck/head, ball-joint second-head, swivel tail connecting to body, and bendy tail. Might I add I also love the fact that her teeth are made from clear plastic, making her look almost exactly like the movie's.

While sporting a few decent areas of posability, the way the figure is designed doesn't really allow you to "pose" the figure in any other ways. For instance, the Queen looks as if she is "walking in motion". One leg forward, the other behind. Being in this solid pose without the ability to bend her knees or feet, the figure is really stuck with one natural looking pose. There are pegs on the bottom of the Queen, that allow her to be "inserted" into the base, but these pegs also create small "stilts" for her which make her nearly impossible to stand without them. Other examples of fixed poses include the position her hands are in...you can't get her looking "natural" aside the only look that she's meant for...so why add posability?? It's really a statue.

The Chest Buster can only be controlled from the base as turning or busting, you cannot play with it on your own. Also, the Chest Buster as well as the poor incubated woman have very minimal amounts of "blood" painted on them. A minor concern, but I love the clear green residue coccooning her.

The neck is almost all made of rubber, making it pose without looking like a "toy", you can work the head in different directions, but I had a hard time figuring out what the figures "limited poses" were.

Overall, it *looks* fantastic. Educational value is at 3 because it's required to undo all those blasted twist-ties, and whatever is left over is dedicated to taking care of it. Most McFarlane Products get a 1 or 2 for durability, this one gets a 3. Kenner/Hasbros' Mother Alien only had a few poses, not as much poseability or paint, yet was way more durable, and possibly posed somewhat versatile. Although personally, I'd give up the human incubator for a REALLY NICE looking Egg Chamber any day...
You'd enjoy this set very much as an Aliens Fan, since it's the most accurate-looking figure out there, and is quite beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Queen Rules Over All Other Toys, February 29, 2004

I bought the McFlarane toys Movie Maniac VI Alien Queen box set from Amazon toys. Before I talk about the toy, I would like to say how quick Amazon is and thank you. Now, to talk about the best toy ever. The Alien Queen toy is, how you put it, awesome! Not only is the Queen fully detailed she comes with a diorama base. On the wall of the also highly detailed diorama is the unlucky woman colonist from ALIENS. Around her is this rubbery slime that feels cool when you touch it. The fun part about the diorama is that you can make a chestburster come out of the woman any time you want by pressing a button on the back of the diorama.
The Alien Queen is probably the best toy in the world. Standing about ten inches tall at her full height and two feet long with her tall fully outstretched, she is as scary as she is wonderful. The Queen's head is a ball joint, although since her rubbery neck is there it is almost impossible to pose it. Her large arms are ball joints, and her secondary smaller arms are socket joints (they are the easiest to move). Her mid-section and hips are ball joints, and the Queen's rubber tail you can bend in almost any way you want, which is also very nice.
The Alien Queen toy looks almost exactly like the Queen in ALIENS, being fully detailed (even down to the smallest texture line), and scary as ... . She looks especially scary when she is covered in half shadow, when her down has a kind of, 'wet' look.
I hope my review on the best action figure ever made was helpful to you and that you consider buying this excellent Alien Queen figure. It will amaze all your friends.

I was pleasently surprised with what mcfarlen toys has done with the alien's line and one item stands out most to me, the Alien queen boxed set. First of all the size and detail are outstanding with this figure; in my opinion definatly a worthy rendition of everyone's favorite bug. The figure is doubly articulated and the face actually swivles from side to side, very true to the original creature design. It also sports a wonderfully detailed base complete with broken gratings, hapless victim and slimy alien cacoons. The only complaints I may have had with the figure is the lack of eggs with everybody's favorite parisites. Otherwise a wonderful addition to any one's table or desk top and a must for any who have ever wanted an aliens figure true to the movies.

Alien Queen is one of the biggest and coolest action figure I ll problaly have. But there a couple of things Mc Farlane Co. could of done to make this action figure the best ever. The queen could of had a inner jaw and also a few eggs around her with facehuggers. This is a toy and a collectible. But this toy is still very cool and is not want it's a need.Get a couple of Aliens and PREDATORS to have the coolest battle you will ever see.
