Fairytopia Enchanted Meadow Playset

My four year daughter was captivated by this in the box at Toys R Us. She loves mermaids and fairies and this toy grabbed her...it appears to have alot going on and it is very 'sparkly'. It has two tiny, adorable fairy dolls that supposably can interact with the playset in many ways such as 'flying' around in a circle when they are clipped to a leaf that spins. At Toys R Us, my husband and I gave in and stomached the price at the cash register. Once home, we put the thing together which was relatively easy, just lots of things to snap and stick. Our girls were all over it...for about an hour. Reason being, it falls apart very easily. Each flower petal attaches seperately and they pop off so easy that after a few days, you couldn't even open and close the flowers to 'hide' the fairies because the petals just snap off when rotated even though they are suppose to move this way. In addition, one leaf has a kind of clip that the child is suppose to attach the fairy too so that they can spin the leaf around and it appears the fairy is flying. Neither my four year old nor my persistent five year old could manage the clip and I even had trouble, although my oldest did eventually figure out a way to balance the fairy and it stayed up for a few rotations. Today, a month after purchasing this expensive piece of pourly designed plastic, I gathered the many snapped off pieces and through this thing away. What a waste! Don't buy this toy. It looks enchanting but it is one of the cheapest toys I have ever had in six years of motherhood.

This set is really spectacular! Finally something truly different, and they have put so much magical fun into this pretty playset. It is one of my 6-yr-olds favorite gifts this year, and you really get a lot of play value for 30 bucks! The set is gorgeous, and the plastic is heavy not cheap flimsy stuff. For added value, the Polly Pockets play nicely in this set, too!

Like all Barbie items, it takes a LONG time to get it out of the box (have wire cutters, scissors, and patience handy!) Once it is out, assembly is pretty simple (a few easily placed stickers and a few pieces to snap on). It is worth the effort, there is so much to do with this set! Be careful with the 'flying' aspect though, we found that the little fairie and pixie dolls will fly right off unless you have a full-size Barbie flying along to slow down the spin! That is really the only negative we have found. I can't see much 'educational' value, like most Barbie items, unless you count the use of imagination! But Barbie isn't intended to be an educational toy. (Had to rate that aspect anyway, so gave a 3.)

I also HIGHLY recommend the Petal Fairies sets to go with this -- the flower seats are very well made and so beautiful! (The Polly Pockets also fit perfectly in those. My daughter uses her Mermaid Polly in a flower seat all of the time.) The Wonder Fairies (full-sized Barbies) are also gorgeous, with rooted eyelashes and pretty wings that flutter! My daughter thinks they are the prettiest of all of the Barbies. You can remove the wings and use them as regular Barbies, too.

We are really looking forward to seeing the DVD when it releases this spring! We recommend this entire Fairytopia toy line!

My daughter is a barbie enthusiest! There isn't much she doesn't have in the fantasy line of barbie's. But I do have this to say to the other poor reviews...You must be kidding! My 5 and 6 year olds LOVE this toy!!! They play with it very often and have had it ever since the day it hit the market. As a parent, if you read the instructions, and follow them (they are extremely simple!) they explain how everything works. Plus with a little common sense you can figure it out easily. Unless you have a child that is unbelieably hard on toys and breaks every thing...then your child will be getting a GREAT Barbie toy. There are a few small parts. I do highly recommend this toy! It is wonderful and ours is in perfect shape...same as the day we bought it. It is played with quite often.

Santa brought this to my 4 year old daughter and she loves it! She does not have any problems with it. She is able to place the fairies on the flying devise without any problems. She has played with this thing constantly since she has received it!

I love this toy! It reminds me of the old little polly pockets ( Not the big pollys the little ones mind you.) I love the fairy theme and the little dolls. I hatethe fact that to get others of the little faeires you must buy the big barbie doll sized faeries. Still its a great toy.

It is rated for ages 3 and up but I would't get it for anyone under 6 because there are a lot of small pieces. It is also a major pain to put together. Once it's set up however, it is quite pretty and there are lots of activities to do with your faeries.

My mother bought this toy 2 weeks ago for my 5-year old daughter's birthday. She loves the toy so that is a big plus. I don't think she's noticed the little things that don't really work, and she loves that she can make her new wonder fairy fly.

For my part it was easy enough to put together but many of the small sprite pieces are too small to really play with around this big playset. Also the attachments for the sprites on the orange flower are impossible to keep in place so don't even try. The fact that the little slide is detachable really just means that it will get lost all the time. The fairies do fly very well, but my daughter can only get her big Barbie in, she needs help with the little fairies. At least with ours the little fairies can't fly by themselves becasue they fly off at the end without a big barbie on the other side to balance them out.

The fairies are cute but they can't do very much. The little sprites have very fragile wings and they can't really move, the smaller fairies and mermaids which you must buy seperatly can really only bend at the waist, but they are very cute. The wonder fairies are very pretty, but as you can tell in the box the wings are fabric so they aren't very child friendly, and don't bother to buy the extra outfits because they're impossible to get the velcro closed and even when you can they don't stay that way once your child picks them up. We don't have this problem with regular Barbie outfits so I think these are just too small.

Overall the set and having to buy the dolls seperatly is pretty pricey and it's not a very well put together little playset. However if your child loves faries and Barbie they probably won't care about the little things and they'll have a ball making their dolls fly. My daughter now lines up her other Barbies and lets them take turns flying too.

My daughter recieved this toy for christmas and while it is pretty, she bored with it easily and she put it aside quickly. She did enjoy the litte play time she spent with it.

Also I found it difficult to put together and found the construction very flimsy. It is overpriced for the quality of the toy. It is not worth it buy your child another play set. Something with some sort of educational value and more durability. My daughter isn't even hard on toys and pieces kept falling off.

My daughter loves this . The secret rooms in this are a lot of fun, and the dolls are so cute . Nice Quality!!

A little bit tricky to get dolls to balance in swing and spin, but not bad.

I agree with other reviewers. This toy has too many pieces that break off easily during play, such as the flower petals, and the fairies fall off during the circling rides over fairy land. My 5 year old played it last christmas for about an hour, and we have since put it in the basement.
