4.0 out of 5 stars Not as happy with this toy as I would have hoped!
I bought this toy because a friend of mine has the stand and play ball blast that my son loves! In hindsight, I wish I would have bought that instead! This toy is even lighter than the other and nearly impossible for my son to pull-up on...and I consider him to be very proficient at pulling-up! Also, the toy never seems to work right! The net is constantly pulling...

We got two of these as gifts for our son's first birthday. I thought he'd love it so much that instead of returning one to the store I decided to keep it at my office so he'd have something to play with there. Big Mistake! He was never interested in this toy -- we already had a Stand-Up Ball Blast, which he LOVED, and the only thing he ever did with this was try to put the balls from it into the Ball Blast (the basketballs are just big enough to get stuck in the Ball Blast). We got rid of this toy and he never even noticed it was gone. As other reviewers have said, it is nowhere near as sturdy as the Ball Blast for pulling up on. If I had it to do over I would exchange these gifts for something else.

This toy is even lighter than the other and nearly impossible for my son to pull-up on...and I consider him to be very proficient at pulling-up! Also, the toy never seems to work right! The net is constantly pulling loose when he pulls-on it, which causes the music to not work when he makes a basket...also the balls seems to get stuck ALOT!! He has played with both the crusie and crawl playground and the stand and play ball blast and I was much more impressed with both of those! I think that I am going to exchange it for one of those two!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for Little Ones!, December 4, 2002

My son received this for his first birthday. Its a great toy for this age group. They love putting things in places, chasing balls, and the lights and music. A few negatives: After putting the balls in the two holes provided, lights and music play (to delight of baby), the balls drop and are supposed to roll out and down a ramp. They sometimes get stuck. Also, with nothing to stop them at the end of the ramp, they keep rolling! On hardwood floors this quickly means balls everywhere and baby with none to play with. We moved it to a carpeted room so the balls don't roll as far. Overall, its a great toy. Simple, yet fun. It teaches cause and effect improves fine moter skills.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baby likes it, but very tippy, January 27, 2004

My 9 month old daughter got this toy for christmas. She is at the crawling/pulling up on everything stage. She also has the pull up ball blast which uses the same balls (which is nice). The problem with this toy is that she can't use it to pull up, which any child this age would naturally try to do on anything the right height. I had seen the picture preivously and it was smaller than I expected (but the perfect height for her) even a baby sitting up in front of it can put the balls in. However, in order for her to use it, I had to tie it to the corner of my coffee table so it wouldn't just fall right over on top of her.

Pros: Baby seems to like, has 3 way volume switch (on/low/high)
Cons: Easily tipped over

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth $, January 5, 2003

My daughter loves music, lights and spinning things. I figured she would go nuts over this toy. However, she barely even looked at it. My daughter is 27 months, but developmentally delayed. You can drop the balls through the center hole and music does play. The two holes on the sides are hard for her to get the balls into because you dont DROP the balls down through the holes. They go horizontally through the holes. I am disappointed with this toy. I wouldn't recommend this toy.

My 10-month old received this as a gift and just loves it!! He likes to pull on the net and watch the circle above it move around and make noise. I think once he figures out how to put the balls in the holes in the sides he will really enjoy the noise it makes, too. In fact, his 5-year old cousin came over and had a blast with this!! The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it is light and won't support him if he pulls up on it. I definitely recommend this toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but Could use Some Improvements, November 30, 2004

This was purchased for our dd around 10 months of age. She did not seem to care that there was a net or holes to put the balls thru. The only thing that interested her was the music and the spinning dial that moved when you "slam dunk" the rim. Now that she's older (2 yrs old), she actually gets more use out of it now than when little. She's constantly trying to see what can fit into all the holes and definitely understand that there is a "reward" of music when you get the ball thru the holes or net.

PROS
- easy to assemble
- bright colors
- the rim/ net fits other various sized balls (such as nerf balls)
- the balls fit other various Fisher Price toys (and vice-versus)
- can be used for quite a while... as mentioned, we bought around 10 months of age and dd is now 2 and still uses
- there is a volume control !!
- songs/ sounds are tolerable

CONS
- a bit tippy for younger kids that tend to "pull up" on things
- the balls tend to get stuck inside the tube ocassionally (nothing that a little tap can't cure, but it's still annoying when dd can't figure out where the balls went)
- the rim/ net seem to come out of the toy often (even though we've "clicked" it into place as per the instructions)
- balls are very easy to lose (they tend to separate from the toy when put into the toy closet)

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the design of the product, however I liked the concept and the overall durability of the product. For the price (on sale) I would say it's a pretty good buy and will provide many hours of enjoyment.

My husband recieved this toy from our son (then age 9 months) for Father's Day. They have played with it every day since then. We have had other toys of all kinds, but this is honestly the only toy he plays with day after day. At nine months, most babies can practice inserting the balls into the holes. Now that my little guy is walking, he can insert the balls, make "slam dunks", dance to the music, experiment with other toys down the tubes, turn it upside down and sideways to experiment with gravity and he giggles all the while.

Our son got this for his first birthday. He loves the music, and pushing the balls through the holes. This toy does have some weaknesses :it is easy to knock over and the ball tend to get stuck. It would be nice if it the support pole was adjustable,so the toy could be used when the child gets older or for tall 1 year olds. All in all it's an ok toy.

When we bought this toy for our 8 month old son, we thought he was going to love it...he didn't. Within the first night he broke the net off, which will never go back correctly. He is easlily able to knock the whole thing over. The balls sometimes get stuck inside and you have to reach in to get them. Overall I would say it is not worth buying. My son is now 15 months and still finds it boring and it is just not sturdy enough.
