I was under the impression this was going to be a usable battery powered lamp. The lamp I received turned out to be more of a desktop novelty than a reading lamp. The light it puts out isn't very bright, and very blue tinted. If you're looking for a lamp to use for reading at night, this is not it.

I must beg to differ with my Customer Colleague Reviewers ... but then, I suppose it comes down to one's needs and/or expectations. I was looking for a good little light for my Notebook, not one by whose illumination I might necessarily read a novel. I have tried so many of those lights that plug into the USB ports, and some of them had come close in various ways to being satisfying ... but, not quite (in fact, I found some of them surprisingly inconvenient). And then I stumbled upon the present extremely economical one, and despite the desultory and discouraging reviews, I took the plunge ... and ... I think it is simply terrific! It does an exemplary job at lighting my laptop's keyboard; in fact, I find its light so bright, I feel confident I could use it even to read a novel, should I so desire! The upshot is, this little lamp gives a very bright light; it is compact and light as a feather; and it is, IMHO, as cute as cute can be! I love it!

Extremely cheap. Not very bright. About its' only use would be to read a map in the car.

This item is definitely not worth buying. I was looking for an inexpensive way to have a few side table lamps for my kids and myself, while still trying to save $ on electricity. Big mistake. Week 1, two of the led lights on my lamp went out and i also had to tape the bottom battery closure to keep it in place. Week2, the other lamp had the same issue with one of the bulbs, battery closure, and it sounded like something was rattling around inside of it as well. Don't waste your $. Buy a real lamp.

This light is smaller than it appears and while it works and lights, it is not very usable unless you just had a 3"x 3" area you wanted to illuminate.

The first light I received had a short in the battery housing and would light only if you continuously rolled the batteries while clicking the switch it would stay lit until the battery cap is replaced then immediately died. The seller was GREAT and sent me a free replacement, unfortunately that one did not even light - tried with Duracell and Energizer AAAs even went so far as to purchase brand new battery packages from Target, in case my new batteries I bought last month lost some of their charge. Do not purchase this item unless you like this type of headache

When the lights are off, sometimes you just need a little light to see what you're doing. This light was the perfect solution for me. I would not, however, recommend this as a reading lamp. This is just a simple, cute little utility light that is stable and agile. Requires 3 AAA batteries and has 8 little LED bulbs in a single row. The LED's emit the blue'ish glow that I've seen from LED's before. It's a step above using your cell phone screen to see in the dark. I love it.

For $4.40 what do you expect? The picture in the ad showed light coming from the light onto the pages of a book. I put 3 brand new AAA batteries in and did not get any light (and for those critics out there, I did put the batteries in the right way). It was perfect for what I needed it for but I did expect that it would work. Don't bother getting this item.

This product "looks" nice, but that's where it's value ends. The first one I got, the lamp housing turned quite hot within moments and a few of the 8 lights were not working. I mentioned that in my review and the supplier very quickly apologized and sent me a replacement at no cost... nice touch, that... but, alas, the product does not deliver.

I wanted to use it for using my laptop at night, to illuminate the keyboard. But the small area of light that this lamp produces is totally ineffectual in illuminating a keyboard. I really wanted to give this a good review, because it does look good... a nice modern design... but the useful light that it produces that does not measure up. It might be useful for other close desk top activities, like diary notes, but not for keyboards.

Ahh, should have read the description better - this is a very tiny desk light. Might be good if you're reading a small paperback at a table, but definitely not a whole desk of papers.
