Limbo Elmo a hoot; familiar, catchy tune not TOO annoying,

Just got back from spending a weekend away with 5 other adults, a 5-year-old & a 22-month-old. One of the adults was my sister; the two kids were my nephews. Anyhow...my toddler nephew just got Limbo Elmo & adores it. His older brother has fun with it also. Limbo Elmo was new to the rest of us. I'd already encountered Hokey-Pokey Elmo at a 3-year-old's birthday party, so it was quite a kick to see Limbo Elmo, a toy cleverly created in the same vein. Elmo has his usual shiny, red fur, but is jauntily dressed in a tropical shirt, white pants & cool flip-flips - an outfit that would do Jimmy Buffet proud! When you press his right hand, he starts singing the Limbo song (you know....THAT limbo song), wiggles around & bends backward to an impressive degree. All of this works best on a hard surface & since Elmo moves forward, he'll fall off if he's close to the edge of a table. If he's knocked over on his back, he says something to that effect (don't remember exactly what), then says, "Thank you!" when he's set back on his feet. Anyhow, back to my family....most of us went right to the Elmo toy when little nephew started fussing (didn't always quiet him)...we'd find ourselves singing the song (usually someone would tell the singer to shut up!), so obviously, it wasn't anywhere near as annoying as other kids' songs like the Barney song or "The Wheels on the Bus Go Round & Round" I hope my dad got some video of little nephew dancing along with Limbo Elmo, 'cause it was sooooo adorable. For $20, this toy doesn't seem like a bad value.

My daughter received this for her 3rd birthday. The next day she was playing with the limbo stick...each end pulls out from it. When she shut the stick, it shut quickly and pinched her leg in it. I really had to work to get it open to free her leg. She has a good size spot and bruise. The doll is fine but, the stick is a hazard.

Fall over Elmo is a better name,

The instructions say to put Elmo on a hard floor to ensure it works, but that doesn't make much of a difference. It falls over and the music doesn't last long enough. I liked the Rock'n Roll Elmo best because he had a guitar and played music while rockin'. That was more entertaining for this age group. This is more frustrating -- even me, a grown up, is frustrated with this toy. The limbo stick can get lost easily in the piles of toys not attached to anything. Too much effort between Elmo and the stick. Chicken Dance or Hokey Pokey Elmo look like better choices, but I have not tried them.
