It's easy to use once you get the hang of it.

This works very well, I love the padding on the shoulder- the 'Dusk' pattern/color is incredibly beautiful, very true to the picture.
SpaceGirl Incognito
The fabric is very durable, and the shoulder and rails are nicely padded.

This was my first sling and my first experience with baby wearing. I registered for this for baby #1 and a friend gave it to me at my shower! My baby is now 8 months old and I've been using this since he was 3 days old. The sling has come in handy so many times at the store, at church, in class, on walks, in restaurants, doing household chores, and "just because". :) (I uploaded a few pictures so you can get a visual).

I love that this ring sling is both practical AND beautiful! I got the fern batik print and love it. The fabric is very durable, and the shoulder and rails are nicely padded. As some mentioned, the padded rails can make tightening the sling a little difficult at times, but once my ring sling was "broken in" a little, the padding softened and it's become much easier to adjust.

This is a great sling for those new to babywearing or who want to test out a ring sling without spending $50+! Some of the slings I was looking at are upwards of $100 - while I would love to someday have such a high quality sling, this one does the trick nicely for now. :)

A few tips and techniques I've learned:
#1 - Positioning: SAFETY FIRST! Please be sure that your infant is positioned high enough for you to easily ensure he/she can breathe easily, especially if you are wearing your newborn! "Close enough to kiss" is what I always read. It can be a little tricky sometimes to get your baby up this high, but I found that if you tighten the sling a little more before putting baby in, it's easier to maintain that visibility.

#2 - Don't pull on the "tail". When you go to adjust the sling, don't pull down on the little tail to tighten things up. This makes it hard to get the proper fit.

I wish I had this before my daughter was born. I used a snugli front carrier until she was about six months old, then she got too heavy for it and the straps hurt me too much to use it anymore. This is so much more comfortable, once you get the hang of it, which really doesn't take long. Plus, there's no complicated straps to adjust, and it's easy to tighten/loosen it with the baby inside. I was ready to send it back after the first time I wore it, but I sent them an email and they gave me some pointers on how to adjust it comfortably, and now we use it everyday. Now, at ten months, I make the loop very small and put it under her arms so she can "walk" all by herself (much easier on your back since you don't have to bend over. The fabric is really beautiful and the quality is great(I've washed it twice).I get compliments whenever I wear it. Like I said, I wish I had this sling from the beginning beacause there are so many different ways to carry the baby in it, it really does grow with your child. I would really reccomend this to anyone expecting, it doesn't take much practice to wear it comfortably, but it does take some patience. Read the instructions on their website before you give up! It's worth it! P.S. I'm not particulary thin or short, but I still had to weave the padded part of the straps through the loop to make it snug enough, so this is plenty big for a larger-built person.

I took a babywearing class led by someone who helps make the international rules for babywearing. She told me that the rings used in this ring sling are craft rings, not babywearing rings. Now that I know what to look for, I can see that there really is a BIG DIFFERENCE! These rings are tiny and flimsy compared with a real ring sling. That, coupled with the pointless padding along the rails of this sling make it impossible to adjust easily. I struggled to use this for the entire first month of my baby's life and finally upgraded to a professionally made ring sling. The difference is unquestionable. I will say that the fabric in this sling is pretty, but it is also single-sided and very thin. I ended up giving it away to a friend to use as home decor. If you want a real ring sling, look for something condoned by Babywearing International...or at least check their website for the features you should look for.

I own 3 carriers:
Lite-on-Shoulder Baby Sling (this product)
Infantino Swift Classic Carrier (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003I867US/)
Infantino Sash Mei Tai Carrier (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C9ODQ6/)

My baby is currently 12-13 lbs
My priorities: in addition to skin-to-skin perks of all carriers, I focused on hands-free movement, different holding options, breastfeeding, comfort, ease of use, portability, growth, price, and extras. I'll rate these features 0-5 for each.

Lite-on-Shoulder Baby Sling:
I like this carrier best for wearing her when she is asleep, particularly while I work at the computer, but it's also good for her while awake and while I'm mobile. As long as she isn't very squirmy, this carrier is excellent.

hands-free movement (3)
Very good, but not great. Sometimes I feel the need to steady her with one hand to make sure she doesn't shift (eg. to reach something up high). Not a big deal as this doesn't happen often.

different holding options (5)
The sling is very versatile. I already use 2 holds easily and there are several more to learn, with plenty of options for her when she is larger.

breastfeeding (2)
Nursing in this has been tricky for me so far, because she is a squirmy nurser and the sling doesn't give her enough room to move to her liking. This may be my skill with the sling or just the nature of a sling in general. However, it is very easy to move her from sling to seated nursing with the sling loosened around her, and then back into the sling when done.

I am still playing around with ways to be discrete while nursing with the sling.
