My First Swing Set

We bought this swing for my son's 1st birthday. He loved climbing on it, using it as a fort and racing his cars down the slide. We never had any problems with it tipping over, it has always been very sturdy. He did out grow the swing quickly because it was very low to the ground so he ended up using it for his stuffed animals instead.

We kept it on an enclosed patio with sun exposure and the swing straps did rot. The Hedstrom company replaced all 4 straps and the seatbelt for free, they were very nice.

One nice feature is that the slide and ladder fold up so it won't take up quite as much space when it's not being used. Overall, I would recommend this product, just don't expect much from the swing.

My son was 10 months when I bought this. He loved it for about a month, maybe two, but then hardly ever played on it. The slide is fine, but the swing is much too low to the ground to be effective. It's pendulem motion is very short. My son never askes to be pushed in it...(and he loves his outdoor swing.)

It is, however, made well. We have it outside now, next to the pool and my son, now 18 months, likes to go down it into the water where we catch him. I like the canopy because it provides shade.

I would recommend purchasing a slide alone, or at least don't expect to use the swing much. If you get a good deal on this, it would probably be worth it, ...

My son received this as a birthday gift from his grandparents for his first birthday. From the start, we knew the swing wasn't very useful because it has such a short range of motion and sits so low. He has used it more as a rocking chair, because his feet hit the ground before he was two. The slide is good for little ones, and when my son was two and it wasn't long enough to be exciting, we got more fun out of it by setting the end of it in his little pool. The steering wheel was far and away my son's most favorite part of this toy. He practically spent all summer driving! When he was 2 1/2, he was too tall to stand under the canopy, but ocassionally would get up and sit on the deck to "drive". Now we're getting him a bigger swing set, but his little brother will be the perfect size for it this summer. We'll probably get about 4 years use out of it between our two boys. Also, we live in New England and left this outdoors during two winters. It hasn't rusted or cracked! Very durable!

This swing is dangerous. I received this for our 1 year old and she was almost catapulted while swinging. Very jerky and limited motion. She is a tiny 18 lbs. and would have outgrown this in a matter of months had we not returned it. The "adjustable deck" is a joke-- it raised the deck only a couple inches higher, but in turn made the height under the canopy less. She was within a few inches of not being able to stand under it already. No way would this accommodate her at 2 or 3 years old. There were many sharp plastic molded edges which we had to smooth so she wasn't cut. This is overall a very poorly made, unsafe childs toy. We got a Little Tikes climber instead with a slide only, no swing, but Little Tykes makes a version with a swing too. I am sure that one is much safer. Beware!

My son has had a lot of fun using the stairs and the slide. We had to take the swing off when he was just 11 months old because it was too close to the ground. He was never able to actually use the swing because of how close to the ground it was.

This is a great toy. You have to have alot of room, but it is well worth it. It does take some time to put together, but they supply a phone number to get help if needed. Some have talked about their's tipping - there are foot stabalizers that you may have to reposition, but once you get it right, it is very stable. We bought this when my daughter was about 8 months old. She is almost 2 and still loves it. She has learned to swing all by herself now and I never worry about her falling. This is great for coordination by climbing stairs, repositioning and sliding. I would recommend for all.

I have read all the reviews of this swing set and I found the swing set to be above average in all aspects. I bought this item for my niece who LOVES this swing set. As with all swing sets some adult supervision is necessary, but I don't think this swing set is dangerous and it is well made and durable. We keep this in a play room right now but we had it on a patio and have not had any problems with the durability. The only negative thing I can say is that the swing was made for a small child and bigger children will hit their feet on the rails if they don't lift them up. This is a great first swing set!!

This is one of the best toys my child has ever played with. I got it for her when she was 13 months old, and she's now 2 and still plays on it constantly. She will sit on the swing with her dolls, and she loves to climb and slide on it by the hour. When her friends come over, that's the first place she wants to take them to play. This toy gets an A+ from me.

I bought this item about 1 1/2 years ago for my 2 1/2 year old son. I have another son now that is 1 year old. I have keep this product outside for the last 6 months. It says it can be indoor or outdoor. I put my 1 year old son in this yesterday and started to swing him. he swang about 3 times and the strap that holds him in broke. It is completely rotted. He fell and busted up his face and his head is very bruised. BEWARE of this item. I have contacted hedstrom about this. I just dont want to see this happen to another child. the strap is not safe that holds them in.

The packaging on the box is very misleading. It shows a supposed 2-year old child swinging happily away. The truth is that by the time the child is two, he/she can no longer fit into the swing or stand upright under the canopy. Not only is the swing non-functional, but ours broke while our daughter was in it. The straps are flimsy, the plastic fades rapidly when kept outdoors, and the bars rust. This is a dangerous product. We were able to convince Toys R Us to take ours back without a receipt.
