5.0 out of 5 stars Terrifying and Absolutely Perfect
My boyfriend is a heavy sleeper. I'm sure he could sleep through a skeet shooting exhibition that was being held at the foot of his bed during a Category 5 hurricane that was shredding his house to bits while it was on fire.

This year for Christmas, I purchased him the Flying Alarm Clock and once he set his alarm, he has not been late since. The sound emitted...

2.0 out of 5 stars Fragile
This is a cool concept, and when it actually did what it's supposed to do (before it broke), it did a great job of getting me out of bed in the morning. The problem is that the area in which you're supposed to place the propeller is too fragile. If you don't press down, the alarm doesn't shut off, and if you press too hard (too hard being moderate pressure; I do not have...

The problem is that the area in which you're supposed to place the propeller is too fragile. If you don't press down, the alarm doesn't shut off, and if you press too hard (too hard being moderate pressure; I do not have concrete hands), the parts that spin the propeller break.

3.0 out of 5 stars Design flaws make this alarm clock less effective than it could be., September 13, 2007

Have trouble getting up in the morning? Then the Flying Alarm Clock may just be the product for you. For me, however, it was not. The clock works simply enough: the base has a motor that spins the top part at a designated time, causing the top to fly up for a few seconds. When positioned on my nightstand, it would always fly up and land on my wife's face (not good). When I tried putting it on the carpet on the opposite side of the room, I learned that the speaker is on the bottom of the base, and placing it on the carpet makes the alarm inaudible (very not good). The base is elevated, so there is no problem hearing the alarm when it is set on a hard, flat surface.

3.0 out of 5 stars @#$%!!!!, January 11, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When this thing goes off, I'm sure it wakes up our next door neighbors too. Incredible wailing siren reminiscent of an air raid. Great for getting my kid out of bed though. Kinda tough putting the propeller back on when all you want to do is smash it after finally finding it under the bed. Wish that it was back lit all the time too as it's tough to see the digital screen in reg.light/dark.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk, June 19, 2008
Ordered item, does not come with AC adapter, or batteries, have to tap the top if u want it to light up to see the time, ac adapter is optional but must find that on your own. Setting the time and alarm is a joke "press mode 3 times, press set 1 time... put your left foot in, take your right foot out...." has a useless count up feature. Bottom of the helicopter is a Styrofoam ball! But aside from that, the helicopter would not sit properly in the clock - had to hold the top lightly until it gained enough speed to launch (then quickly take your finger away). Even if it did work, you can still hit snooze without retrieving the helicopter. Alarm is the sound of a distorted airplane taking off - sounds like crap, very poor quality speaker. Best part of the product was the box. If it worked at all, I suspect the batteries would wear down quickly. Manf website had no useful info on troubleshooting item. Even if it had worked, this is a $5 product becasue of the overall quality. Will return for refund.

This is a piece of junk. If by flying they mean falling off onto the floor, then yes, that is exactly what it does.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, January 4, 2009

Got my hopes up too high I guess on this product. I expected the rotor wing to seat tightly in the holder and fly up about 6-7 feet on takeoff. This was not the case. The rotor wing flops around when 'seated' in the top holder and when launch time comes, wobbles around as it spins up and 'flys' about 6" up, then walks itself off the night stand. The radio works fine and the alarm shuts off when rotor is pushed back down in holder but still, the wing flight was very lame.

Product is pretty cheap/flimsy, doesn't work well, hard to use (set time, alarm, etc.) and difficult to set the prop properly. I'd rate this a 1-2 range and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

This product does not work correctly and I plan to return it. The flying piece does not fly, just falls off the stand. Also, it was described as new, but it definitely looks used.

Junk. Junk. Junk. Ate a set of batteries in 3 days. No AC adapter provided. Actually, not really all that loud - speaker is underneath the unit. Kids loved it while it worked all of 3 days. Now it gathers dust.
