As a tamper, it seems to do the work, but the dimensions are not as specified. The actual diameter of the smaller side is 1 15/16, not 1 7/8, so if you are looking for something that size, don't get this (I think the Norpro Tamper & Scoop Espresso Combo Tool Stainless Steel is the only one for less than $20 of with those dimensions at Amazon.com, but I haven't bought the product to testify for it).
The customer service was bad, they did not want to refund the shipping even though it was their mistake, and if I had accepted a refund for the item only I would have had to spend almost the same amount in the return shipping, waisting about $9 and a lot of time (fortunately, Amazon.com's A-Z guarantee solved the problem).
Finally, the product is not the one in the pic, it actually looks more like the Short Aluminum Tamper (15-0349) Category: Coffee Makers and Urns (not necessarily an issue, but it also says something about the company).

What can I say? It is a coffee press. There is not much than go wrong here. I even figured out how to use it without directions. (smile) The small end is the one that works with my espresso machine. I always brew a full bail of grounds, but I noticed that it catches a little on the sides a little further in. If you are brewing a single shot, it *might* have too large a diameter to tamp it down. Sure beats the cheapo plastic one that came with the machine.

I carefully measured my machine to get the right tamper size and ordered this one. When I received it, it just was larger than specified I think due to the mold marks etc of the product. I used sandpaper (wrapped tube shaped around it) and got it down to size useable (now a perfect fit) but it just wasnt exactly as specified (close but no cigar.) I was looking for a 43 to 44 mm and got what I did after much sanding I now have a 43-44 mm tamper.

I'm not a pro. I make my own coffee at home. This suits my needs perfectly. Nice weight to it and very shiny finish. Makes me look like a pro while entertaining.
