Very interesting Inspirational and educative reading.

I started reading the book drawn to his Navy SEAL stories but came away with valuing more the lessons he extracted from them than the stories themselves.

Having read hundreds of self-improvement books in my lifetime, I feel lucky to run across Richard (Mack) Machowicz's book. It is an instant classic and a must for bookshelves of any worth. It's just that good. There are two factors that make this book stand out among almost all books in its category: it is honest and real backed by someone who's honest and real. Mack was honest about the challenges he faced and the problems he endured. Even when he didn't explicitly say it in the book, you get a sense of someone who has grown much over the years. He wasn't and isn't perfect. We can all relate. Yet he accomplished so much -- Navy SEAL, host of two popular shows, husband, father, Navy SEAL (worth repeating). There's a saying: "It ain't where you come from; it's where you've been." So we can admire what Mack has done and the life concepts he's uncovered, down to even the simple yet effective tricks he's learned to motivate himself. We'd be foolish not to listen. That's also why he's an excellent teacher and author. Often the best doer isn't the best instructor. Mack is both. He understands the struggles of fear and insecurities, the negative things we inadvertently tell ourselves, that the biggest hurdle is often ourselves. I started reading the book drawn to his Navy SEAL stories but came away with valuing more the lessons he extracted from them than the stories themselves. This book is filled with refreshing truths, and even with plenty of books under my belt, it continues to amaze me from start to finish. Add Mack's book to your Amazon cart and get it Prime shipped. You haven't a moment to waste. Thomas Huynh, author and founder of Sonshi.

By page 4, this was a great inspirational book.
By page 7, this was the greatest motivational book I've ever read.

So many books about our potential read so epically, so institutionally, so poetically.
This book teaches you to achieve your goals on a smaller scale.
What do you want?
How important is what you want (when compared to everything else you want).
Do you have the weapons/tools/skills to attain your goal?
Once you choose what you want WHY ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING ELSE?!?!
Stay focused.

Also, don't think this is one of the messages he tried to get across, but he mentioned that hell week (in the navy seals training) is designed to defeat you, to break you, to make you quit.
You either quit hell week, or you become a SEAL.
For some reason, though it's never mentioned in this book, I got that life is supposed to be the same way.
Once you decide to never quit life/pursuing your goals, you become...

Anyone who needs a self esteem boost needs to read this book. Mack does a great job explaining why people bully, and offers suggestions for how to deal with your own personal discipline and lack of self confidence. Got it for our teenage grandson who is a late bloomer, and is having to deal with peer pressure, and bullying. I ordered two books, one for him and one for myself, because I wanted to be able to discuss the book with him (since he doesn't live close by). Teenage boys and girls, both would benefit from reading this book (parents, you can read it and discuss with them).

This book is one of the best books I have ever read to help me effectively learn to manage and achieve my goals. By using terminology used as his experience as a Navy Seal it gave me new anchors or words to use to instantly put myself in a state of calm or a state of action. When I was told to get this book I thought no way would I like it. But I had been studying Martial Arts after a life threat for six months. This was the best book in explaining to me that allowing others to constantly push my buttons was something I could not only stop but learn to see coming. Each event happens in the present moment and with proper planning, remaining focused and learning to take responsibility for my life I could hit those targets (goals). My life has changed from many things I did when I took responsibility. This girly girl is thankful for my UK military friend who recommended it. ...

Not just another good book. It reveals the mind-set that makes the Navy SEAls successful, the professional “can-do” attitude needed to get any job done.

If you want good solid advice on how to succeed, a Navy SEAL is probably one of the most qualified people to give that advice. A great read and excellent, sound advice.
