VERY Suprised,

I was actually very suprised by the emotion in this book.
Danny Taggart is pretty much an A** Hole of the highest degree. I still think so, even after the end of the book. So when he finally broke down, I bawled like a baby. The relationship between Danny and Caroline tugged at my heart strings endlessly. Not to mention the sexual tension was near excruciating, and the act itself was such a relief. However, these two just keep on hurting each other, I was not expecting the twisting of my chest and the need to shake them both. The best books always make you cry!!! Great book. Caught and Kept are very good, but it is the history between these two characters that make it the best of the series in my opinion.

Danny Taggart is not your typical hero. He is a fungus. Really. Throughout the series Danny's character has remained true to form rude, crude and just barely socially acceptable. In Kept and Caught, he gave his brothers hell about the women tying them in knots. Typical big brother teasing and taunting in equal measure. He was not a warm and fuzzy character. What I appreciated about Ms. Alden's depiction of Danny in Unleashed is he still a Class A jerk. But she skillfully reveals the reasons Danny is like he is. She doesn't allow him to become some super sensitive romantic hero in his own story. She allows him to be a flawed man turn inside out by the girl who got away. I didn't really like Danny in the other stories but I was intrigued. How was she going to make this character someone I would root for. And I did root for him. I wanted him to get the girl. And the girl, Caroline, was no slouch in her own right. She was a well drawn character who loved her man, flaws and all. Yet,loved herself enough to challenge Danny's hard headed, self- preserving attitudes. I thought Caroline and Danny were made for each other and two of the most realistic character's I read in a good while. Really enjoyed this book. Really enjoyed the series. Will read again and again and definitely recommend.

Unleashed-A Joyfully Recommended Title!!,
This review is from: Unleashed (The Gemini Men) (Paperback)
It may be hard for Danny Taggart to ignore the jealously he has when he sees his brothers Ethan and Derek with their girlfriends, but it's not enough to make him fall for another woman. He's been there and done that and he's not going back for seconds. Twelve years ago Caroline Medford was the love of Danny's life, until she left him flat. While Caroline did marry someone else, she didn't end up with the happily-ever-after Danny thinks she did. Caroline is in danger so she turns to the one man she thinks can help her. Danny initially refuses Caroline's plea, but he gets wrapped up in her nightmare for very personal reasons. As they unearth deadly secrets, Caroline and Danny face their past. While their feelings are bared, the killers are becoming increasingly more anxious that Danny and Caroline's investigating will expose them. With the danger mounting, Danny and Caroline are in a fight for their love and their lives.
Danny is the brooding, sexy, hard-edged, eldest Taggart brother and he intrigued me from the start of the Gemini Men series. Unleashed tells not only Danny's story, but Anne Taggart's as well. While certain mysteries are answered new questions arise and a twisted plot born of greed is uncovered. While Danny's ire can be justified to a certain extent, his misery is largely self- imposed because of his stubbornness. Danny sees things one way - his way. Enter, beautiful, softhearted Caroline, the love of Danny's life. Caroline lost a lot when she walked away from Danny all those years ago. More than Danny ever imagined. He was emotionally closed off and regardless of how much she loved him Caroline could only take being pushed away for so long. When Danny and Caroline finally have their heart-to-heart, the poignancy of the moment is breathtaking, especially for Danny who breaks down and shows a surprisingly vulnerable side of himself. Danny and Caroline's history is based on passion and young love and while they are now older and jaded, the spark is still there. Alden's men are genuine and all male. They ooze sex appeal. With tons of twists and turns, a horrific nightmare unfolds on every page, and a romance as angst-filled as it is erotic, Unleashed is arguably the best of the Gemini Men novels. action packed second chance at love romantic suspense thriller,
This review is from: Unleashed (The Gemini Men) (Paperback)
Perhaps it is because he is the oldest of the Taggart siblings that makes Danny kick butt and ask questions afterward. His "Gemini" twin younger brothers seem gentle in comparison (see Kept and Caught for their respective tales). Only one person outside of family ever got passed his rock hard heart, but Caroline Medford dumped him ten years ago; coagulating his heart into glacial ice.
Sometimes you get what you wish for and Danny gets his. A desperate Caroline begs him to help her as she is the prime suspect in the murder of her husband James. To entice him to take her on as a client, she shows him evidence she found linking James to his missing mom Ann. Danny takes on the case, planning to take her and dump her. As they fall in love for the second time, their break-up leaves both raw and suspicious of the other's motives. The third Gemini Men romantic suspense thriller is an action packed second chance at love tale that completes the overarching theme while also providing an intriguing finish. The villains are incredible as they make the story line work with their avarice human trafficking while the lead couple is a strong duet whose history may overwhelm their future. Fans will enjoy this fine last Taggart standing novel while newcomers will seek the tales of the twins Ethan and Derek, who with their father Joe and their women make key minor appearances in the exhilarating UNLEASHED. Danny is exactly that, a default jerk. Like the guy who takes pictures of his GF waking in the morning up to tweet them, or makes jokes about his wife's butt, or ignores anniversaries go go fishing.
And he doesn't change one iota throughout the book. However, you do grow to understand him, you do see that he can and will listen (after basically being slapped up side the head by a 2x4). You get to understand why he is what he is and will be what he will be. You also see that the biggest spot of tenderness and emotion in his life is Caroline. The girl who got away. I won't lie, this is one of the few books where I was thinking "Maybe it's for the best that she stays 'got away'." But gradually, you come around as Danny comes around, as Caroline stands up to him, demands that he give more then he's been willing to give in the past. She has a line that he has to walk over to be in her life and she doesn't give in. It's an unusual read, in the sense that I can see, 10 years from now, Danny still head over heels in love with Caroline. He'll still be screwing up but also realizing before he's told that he needs to make amends. IOW, he'll forget the Anniversary but take her to Hawaii to make up for it. It's that kind of relationship. Recommmended at 5 stars and Iphone downloaded.

A must read for Gemini Men fans,
By Hooked (Midwest, USA) - See all my reviews

Caged emotionally, dangerous Danny Taggart is finally let off-leash in book three of the Gemini Men series.
Plot Summary: Danny reluctantly agrees to work for his ex-fiancee Caroline to investigate her husband's murder. Caroline promises that helping her may also solve the Taggart family mystery of why Danny's mother disappeared years ago. Caroline's life is endangered when she discovers evidence linking her husband to a lucrative illegal adoption network. Danny must protect Caroline and keep her from breaking his heart again. Stuff I liked: * Really good and consistent characterizations. Loved the way stubborn Danny thought as he tried to steel his heart to Caroline. He was also true to his jerk self when he referred to her as "psycho bitch" and told her to "shut up." He was not much nicer to his family. One of the funniest scenes in the book was the drunk scene (p. 344) when Danny said to Toni, "Ethan used to get more ass than a toilet seat." But we see the soft side too, which is why we and Caroline put up with him. * This book cranked up the emotion very effectively between Danny and Caroline, which is impressive for a hero as closed-off as Danny. I liked the immediate tension built between them; giving them a past without making us think we missed a book in the series. * Liked the villains more in this book than the others, especially Easterbrook the doctor. Each villain was unique. * Liked the wrap-up of the Anne Taggart story that carried through the trilogy. Stuff I didn't like so much: * I liked Caroline, but the one thing that didn't ring true for me was when she first slept with Danny and felt hurt by the way he treated her; her response was not to avoid him, but to have sex with him again only deciding to make it just physical this time (p. 199). I know in erotic fiction you have to get them between the sheets again and create tension, but it seemed a strange reaction for someone with as much sense of self as Caroline. Most people would shy away from what hurt them, not say, "bring it on." * Danny had a TSTL moment when he went in the house without backup. At least he acknowledged it, but still, the Gemini Security crew really needs some procedural training. * Please, no more kidnappings. * Kaylee, Kara and Kate? Every woman under age 24 seemed to have a name starting with K. * I didn't see any grammar problems in this book, but there were plenty of typos that should have been caught in proofing. Overall this was a good book and a fitting end to the trilogy (unless there's a fourth book on the horizon for long-suffering patriarch Joe). Recommended 4 stars.

The Gemini men series is a good brainless vacation read. I liked the books, but they didn't wow me like some others (I love Lori Foster books more). I still read them tho, enjoyed them, and had trouble putting them down. The plots are good and the steamy scenes are too.

Jami Alden is wonderful. I loved this series. The brothers and the women are all so real and the story lines are great. Once you read the first in this you have to have the second and third. This was not just sex, a great story was built and the characters continued in each book. You felt the emotions of these brothers and their dad and for the loss of their mother and how each dealt with it. The sex scenes were very tasteful and hot! I will read a lot more of Alden.
