Great mix of traditional and modern sounds.,

This cd is the best introduction to modern celtic rock that I have heard. I studied at the University of Edinburgh for a year and was introduced to this band buy some Scottish friends right after this cd was released. Every tune reminds me of the country and the people. The music is at times very peaceful and at other times rockin'. It's a great mix of traditional celtic music and modern rock with lots of energy. If you're considering buying a Wolfstone cd, or a "celtic rock" cd in general, definitely start with this one. I think you'll really enjoy it.

I was fortunate enough to see Wolfstone a few times on their North American tour in 1994 and was immediately captivated by the musicianship and energy of this amazing band. As much as a recording can, this CD captures the spirited enthusiasm of this Scottish band, which singlehandedly turned the Celtic revival on its ear.I like "Unleashed," their first "official" CD, for its combination of lyrical and instrumental tunes, slow and fast ones, a nice mix. The fiddle power of Duncan Chisholm is awesome in combination with the skilled twin guitars of Stuart Eaglesham and Ivan Drever. Try "Hector the Hero" for its dramatic sweep, "Cleveland Park Medley" for musical wizardry, "Here is Where the Heart Is" for powerful sentiment and truth, "Song for Yesterday" for its beautiful nostalgia. "Unleashed" features the wonderful songwriting and resonant voice of Ivan Drever, who is no longer part of the Wolfstone lineup. The lineup has changed over the years, especially the pipers (no similarity to Spinal Tap drummers intended!), but, in my opinion, the loss of Drever was the hardest to come back from. Although much of the Wolfstone energy is still there in later recordings, the quality of songwriting has suffered since "The Half Tail."

OUTSTANDING! I found out about Wolfstone though Amazon's recommendations. Instead of buying the lastest cd, I thought I would start with their first. I'm glad I did. I am looking forward to adding more wolfstone cd's to my Library.

This is a great CD, no other way to say it. From the first measures of "Cleveland Park" through "The Howl" and closing with "Erin," if this music can't pick you up out of a black mood and make you feel like dancing, have someone check your pulse. Excellent combination of modern rock with traditional Celtic music. This CD really gets my blood racing.

This is music to push walls over to; your hair will stand up,

This music emotes from the first sound to fly off the CD. Try listening in the car - you'll end up driving off the speedo!. Wolfstone's music attacks the hair on your neck, it attacks the visceral parts, it motivates, it makes you weep. And all on the one album. Don't just take my word as a Scot - listen for yourself, buy, then FEEL - feel alive. I first heard their music over the PA in a wee Oban bar, waiting for a duo to play. The duo never made it - we all wanted Wolfstone. Now, when my band plays, we fill with Wolfstone. What reactions. Fans in Germany are now committed too. It is such a pity they've folded. Buy them all and emote with them.
