5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Debut!
The Unlikely Outlaw is a captivating trip through the old west filled with adventure, romance and intrigue. As a first time author, Rebecca Wade kept me avidly reading. I couldn't put it down! I can't wait for the next novel from this new author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Adventures of Angelica Pickles in Wild West
Anglica Pickles above is the spoilt, whiny bully three-year old in the delightful cartoon "Rugrats". Jasmine, the heroine in "An Unlikely Outlaw" acts just like Angelica Pickles - shrill, impetous, lacks common sense or even some semblence of logic come to think of it.

Think I'm harsh? Heroine steals sheriff's badge just for fun. Dad orders her to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Rebecca Wade brings a fresh voice to Romantic Fiction!, November 16, 2000

This review is from: An Unlikely Outlaw (Mass Market Paperback)
I waited with great anticipation for this book to appear on the shelves last December! I was not dissappointed. Rebecca created a wonderfully fiesty heroine who grows and matures but never loses her spark and fire. She comes out of her realm of self centered dreams and aspirations to learn what love and loyalty are all about. Jasmine makes a great outlaw! I love her six shooter and her love of adventure, no matter how dangerous.

The hero and object of Jasmine's desires is a strong, law abiding man who takes his obligations seriously. This is just the man to help Jasmine focus her talents and energies away from herself and onto what it means to give oneself unselfishly to another. Brody is the right mix of tortured and strong, and caused me to love him on sight!

I know we will be hearing a lot from Rebecca in the years to come and her tales are only going to get better and better! Thank you for this wonderful book!

Unbelievable for a debut novel! Ms. Wade's writing truly is superior to that of many authors whose names are well known. I read this over the Thanksgiving holiday. Couldn't wait to be done with the turkey and get back to find out what happens to Brody and Jasmine! Wonderful, passionate characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful book!, January 23, 2000
This review is from: An Unlikely Outlaw (Mass Market Paperback)
I heard about this author during an online chat in which she participated. Westerns are not usually my favorite, but I must admit that I truly enjoyed this one! It is well written and definitely an "all nighter"! I stayed up well past my bedtime to finish!

Congratulations on a wonderful first book! I hope to see more coming soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars a humerous wstern romance, December 12, 1999
This review is from: An Unlikely Outlaw (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1875 Tyler, Texas, Sheriff Hutton lectures Lee Jamison, owner of the Double J spread, after the latest prank performed by the rancher's daughter Jasmine. The sheriff recommends Lee find a husband for his rascally daughter after "escorting" her home for the third time this year. A disgusted but loving Lee gives his twenty-four-year-old child an ultimatum. She is to find a husband within a month or he will ship her east to a finishing school.

Jasmine selects as her target drifter Brody McClintock, a man allegedly good with a gun and an outlaw to boot . She knows for certain that Brody will desert her rather rapidly, but she will have fulfilled her father's demand. However, Brody is actually an undercover Texas Ranger who never expected a shotgun wedding just because some weird lady tricked him into a night of intimacy. To Jasmine's chagrin, Brody is an honorable person who refuses to leave. Soon the couple falls in love, but each hides a secret from the other. Without trust, they could ruin their relationship.

AN UNLIKELY OUTLAW is a humorous western romance that will entertain sub-genre fans. Brody is a classic Ranger whose sense of loyalty, bravery, passion, and honor will garner much affection from the reader. Jasmine provides much of the jocularity to the story line. However, much of what she finds amusing seems more like teenage stunts that the merry pranksters would probably have rejected as too childish. Still, she adds a feminist strength and guts not often seen in the daily living of a historical female character. Rebecca Wade provides a strong debut that will entice fans to want

5.0 out of 5 stars A Genuine Love Story, December 9, 1999

This review is from: An Unlikely Outlaw (Mass Market Paperback)
WOW! AN UNLIKELY OUTLAW is a WONDERFUL BOOK! The characters were fun and believable, and the relationship between the two was tender and sweet and passionate and all the things romance should be. To think this is a debut author! We will be seeing more of Ms. Wade -- she is an author to remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars Contrasts in Characters, March 14, 2000
This review is from: An Unlikely Outlaw (Mass Market Paperback)
The strength of An Unlikely Outlaw are the contrasts among the four main characters, Jasmine, Brody, Lee, and Emma. Each interested me individually, but their differences strengthened the story. Since Lee and Emma had lived more of life, they had perspective to Brody and Jasmine's inexperience and impulsiveness. That made the story realistic for me.

Brodie will tug at your heartstrings! If you don't sigh over this guy, you're probably not BREATHING. Rebecca Wade has a wonderful sense of humor and a delightfully fresh writing style that sparkles (and we mustn't forget those parts that SIZZLE, too!) I can't wait to read A WANTED WOMAN when it comes out in November!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read and impressive debut, December 31, 1999

Diane Perkins (Burke, Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: An Unlikely Outlaw (Mass Market Paperback)
An Unlikely Outlaw, set in post-Civil War Texas, has an appealing romance between an aspiring outlaw heroine and the Texas Ranger husband she trapped into marriage. The heroine grows from a young woman who overly romanticizes her early life with her father's band of outlaws, to a mature woman who is willing to give up everything for love. The story is told with humor, sensuality, and great romance!
