I was not sure about this product but bought it anyway. I needed a way to listen to my t.v. in the back yard. We have SIRUS on the t.v. and like to party out side with friends and family. I LOVE THEM (the speakers)!! I used them all over the house and outside while working. They sound realy good. The speakers work on batterys or plug in to outlet, We can use them anywhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for voice broadcasts, August 31, 2008

I bought this product as a complement to my Logitech Squeezebox, which utilizes my powerful stereo and is excellent for listening to music. It's a hassle to use it to listen to NPR and I never figured out how to use it with Windows Media Player, so thus the purchase. I bought 2 for my living room and one for my bathroom. The Audio Unlimited speakers were a snap to set up and the single speaker I mounted in my bathroom uses the batteries and I get very long life out of the NiMH C cells I loaded into it. Where the speakers fall short is in listening to music - they lack depth, bass, and volume. So I use them exclusively for listening to voice broadcasts, which they perform well.

What a great product. These speakers absolutely rock. They sound great, they are simple to use and they never miss a beat. I've had wireless speakers before and after standing on your head for a half hour to "tune them in" after about twenty minutes they need to be retuned. I've had these speakers running all day long and have never had to touch them again. I have them mounted in my gazebo with two simple screws each and they can be heard almost anywhere in my yard. Use them with batteries or plug them into a wall outlet, either works just fine.

These speakers work very well. I like that I can easily expand the transmitter package by buying as many of these as I need.

The wireless speaker works fine but Audio Unlimited will not sell you the required wireless transmitter unless you buy the additional 2 speaker set that comes with the transmitter. The transmitter comes with a mini plug that doesn't fit on stereo TVs

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Product, June 13, 2010
This review is from: Audio Unlimited 900MHz Wireless Add-on Speaker (Black) (SPK-VELO2) (Electronics)
I recently purchased these speakers through amazon.com and have been quite pleased with their performance. I wanted a way to listen to music in my backyard when company is over. In the past, I would run a cable into the house and mount a speaker, but that was difficult to do, and the speaker would eventually rust away. These wireless speakers serve the same purpose, but without the hassle of cabling.

As previous reviews have mentioned, they are extremely easy to set up. (1) Just plug them into a wall outlet, or put batteries into them (I am using wall outlets). (2) Plug the transmitter into a wall outlet. (3) Connect the transmitter to any audio device that has a headphone jack. (4) Start the music playing from your audio device. (5) Go back to each speaker, turn them on, and adjust the volume. If you can't hear anything, or the sound is fuzzy, press the tune button on the speaker until the sound quality is good. That's it--figure 5-10 minutes setup time the first time you use them, and less once you've used them before.

When you're finished listening, you can either leave the speakers outside (they are water resistant), or bring them back inside (which is what I do).

A couple of notes: if you're using an iPod as the music source, be sure to turn up the volume to almost the top end. Also, check the position of the speakers to ensure that they are within range of the transmitter. Also, despite the fact that you receive two speakers, you're not hearing true stereo. Final caution, while the speakers are water resistant, the AC adapter isn't, and should not be left out in nasty weather.

But, with all of those cautions aside, if you're simply looking for background music (as I was), or want to hear a game while sitting outside, these speakers work great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the speakers, June 23, 2008

I love these wireless speakers. We installed two outside on our patio and bought an extra one to have in the kitchen. I hooked it up to the surround sound and can listen to the ball game, satellite radio, radio, or cds.

These speakers are my 3rd attempt at finding something I'm happy with. For the price, I would recommend these. They're not perfect, but I am happy with them. They are weatherproof and have decent sound quality and decent volume. They have a/c adapters and they take 12 C batteries and this can get expensive I suppose. I like the auto-off and auto-on feature. I'm not happy with the remote; it doesn't always turn the speaker on after they've been off for a period of time. I also wish it had a "mute" button. Anyway, good value.

I have music playlists from Napster on my computer that I want to listen to in other rooms but running speaker wires would be impossible. These wireless speakers solve the problem very nicely.
I connected the transmitter to the computer, plugged the speakers into an AC outlet and turned on the music. Real easy. I'm no audiophile but I like what I'm hearing.
The only problem I'm finding is that the transmitter doesn't pick up all audio signals. Napster and various online am/fm stations play fine but I can't get signals from others such as AOL Radio or Pandora.
Still, a thumbs up from me

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for normal users, April 2, 2011
This review is from: Audio Unlimited 900MHz Wireless Add-on Speaker (Black) (SPK-VELO2) (Electronics)
I have one of these speakers in my bedroom, and another in the kitchen. The one in the bedroom I use to stream Pandora when going to bed (or doing just about anything in the room), the one in the kitchen is used whenever I'm working in that area of the house. The wireless is awesome, because I don't have to unplug my radio when I go to work outside, or run extra wires to everywhere I'd like them in the house - just grab one of the speakers and bring it over with no need to re-tune or pause the music on whatever player you're using.
If you're looking for high quality listening, these probably aren't the speakers for you - and they're not really intended to be. Anyone who thinks they're always going to get crystal clear sound through any wireless speakers doesn't know audio. For the common user though, they're perfect and really are hassle-free (plug in the power/turn on, plug the transmitter into the standard audio jack of any device, hit play, done). I've had the base set (2 plus transmitter) for over a year now and never had a problem; and I'm about to get a few more to set up in the garage, basement and under the deck.

The real key is deciding the type of user you're going to be. If you're going to listen to every tiny detail of a recording, you probably want noise cancelling headphones. If you're going to listen where other noise is going to be present or the recording isn't going to be the focus (e.g. working on the yard, or during a party), you won't notice the slightly lower sound quality of these.
