5.0 out of 5 stars Tony is powerful & motivating
I listened to this tape every day for 2 weeks while reading the book edition. Nobody is more motivating than Robbiins. At the time, I was like a miniture version of Robbins; newly divorced, out of work, alone and afraid. Thanks to Tony's techniques, I turned that all around. My financial life was also a mess and as per TONY'S ADVICE in a edition of Powertalk, I also...

The publishers of this CD are being blatantly DISHONEST. The CD claims to be the AUDIO Unlimited Power and even includes a statement about it being narrated by Anthony Robbins.

Only in small letters at the back of the CD does it say "abridged version".

Avoid the CD. Just buy and read the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good primer but lacks substance, June 9, 2005
By
DW (Tempe, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
Anything by AR is good, hearing his voice and his ability to speak is motivational, and without a doubt his knowledge of NLP is the real deal.

That's why I was disappointed in this 50 minute CD. There's not enough time to go in depth about the topics, he throws a few lists out there and jumps around in his subject matter.

I'm a fan so it's hard to be critical, but unless you can pick up a used copy for a couple of bucks this just isn't worth it. Instead, spend one extra dollar and buy his book, Unlimited Power. There you'll have 300+ pages of in-depth, paradigm-shifting material that will have a much greater impact on your life.

My financial life was also a mess and as per TONY'S ADVICE in a edition of Powertalk, I also bought Wealth Without Risk (now More Wealth w/o Risk) by Charles Givens. Givens tecniques did as much for me financially as Unlimited Power did for me on a Personal Development level. Thank you Tony Robbins for one of the best, if not the very best Personal Development books of all time!

3.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD BOOK, May 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Unlimited Power (Paperback)
Robbins deserves credit for mass advertising the concept of NLP. I like this book better than "Awaken the Giant", less fluff and less pro- moting his other products and $3000 seminars. The NLP techniques are only a partial solution, and not an end in themselves. Easy reading. I also highly recommend "MAXIMUM ACHIEVEMENT" by Brian Tracy and the 'SILVA METHOD" or any good book on alpha waves for maximum mental repro gramming. "SUPERSELF" by Charles Givens is probably one of the most under rated self development book. I don't agree with ROBBINS nutritional ideas and have not found one person including nutritionists who either recommend this regimen or have any measureable results by using it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, June 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Unlimited Power (Paperback)
Anthony Robbins encapsulates the best personal development strategies and combines it with NLP to create rapid change. This book will improve your entire life from reaching goals to rapport with others. I also highly recommend "Business By The Bible" by Wade Cook and the timeless classic "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good CD - The Book Is Much Much Better, July 5, 2001
By A Customer
The BOOK version is excellent - everyone that wants more out of life must read it. The CD is a very good but does not compare in regards to detail, but it is good for reinforcement. I was hoping the CD would be a straight read of of the book but it is only a small portion - 60 minutes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but this is not the audio-book., June 1, 2003
Is a great audio, with clear concepts. This is not the audio-book of his first best seller. It is probably from 1988 or 1990. This is a taped seminar. In it, Anthony, gives the steps to accomplish goals, he gives the concept of personal power, that is, take action towards your goals. This is the very key that differences an achiever from a planner.

2.0 out of 5 stars a few good points, October 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Unlimited Power (Audio Cassette)
The audio version of this book is too short to be really helpful. I believe that Robbins really wants to share his secrets for success but I'm not really sure what his secrets are. He mentions NLP but a five minute explanation isn't going to help anyone practice this. Overall, a waste of money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Absorb what is useful to you...then move on, May 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Unlimited Power
When I first read this book some time ago I was very impressed with the information contained within it. I felt that there was something fresh and different about it and that it could possibly be THE TOOL to change my life forever.

However, experience has taught me over time that a book like this, aside from the hype and fanfare surrounding it, can only offer you hints at improving the self- it's up to the reader as to what they feel they can use from the material presently in their lives.

The author is a self-made man, so to speak, and indeed is a model of how one can achieve much success in a particular endeavor. Though he lacks academic credentials, he nevertheless has aggressively pursued his dreams and lady luck has smiled upon him. He is a natural-born speaker and seems able to synthesize a lot of information into a useable form for the masses.

Again, however, reader beware because while it is easy to get totally sold on a book like this there are bound to be ideas, philosophies and techniques presented that one would disagree with. My advice is to trust your instincts. I, for example, found that NLP was not a good strategy for me to follow. How could I model the thinking patterns of someone I admired but could never meet? How could I possibly find the time to get into someone's head more locally to be able to model something they can do as effectively? The rub is that we each are unique and we inevitably produce results in our own way. Unless you are blessed with a mentor who will show you the ropes of something first hand, you may find yourself paying someone else to do so.

The other oddity in the book was the author's shift to a diet plan geared towards optimizing your energy levels and brain power. These are nice thoughts but the advice was severely flawed at best. This turn was away from the book's focus and would have been best left out.

It is overall an interesting book to read but is best read with an objective eye. Glean from it what you find useful and be open to other ideas and philosophies.
