Very good strategy guide. Best I've seen.,

As an owner of many strategy guides for other software titles, I have to say many are lacking in depth. This one is definitely different, and the best overall guide I've yet seen. It contains excellent information on the game's standard units and provides invaluable advice for players new to TA, particularly regarding Multiplayer strategies. This guide even includes some very interesting interviews with the game's designers. I found the map section very useful as well. I strongly recommend this guide to anyone seriously interested in playing TA.

This book got four stars only because I love the game so much and really anything to do with it pretty awesome.
First the positive: This book offers a walk through for the campaigns for both the arm and core factions, which can be helpful if you want to win with zero hassle. The book has pictures of all the maps, units, and offers suggestions on strategies. Offers some pretty cool tricks to beginners that may not have thought of otherwise. The book also goes through all the hot keys and commands, which is awesome for a beginner. You get to read about the strategies that the people who made the game use. The negatives: This book has so many typos, it is almost painful to read. Often times, they mix up the faction's units' names and even describe the wrong weapon used by the unit. The suggested unit usage does not reflect actual online game play. only through experience and online sources do you learn which units are really useful and are not bugged. This book was released before the expansion packs, so you won't read anything about how the game is played after with those. Reading forums and websites about this game would give the seasoned and advanced player better strategies. Bottom line: This book is excellent for beginners who want to learn the hot keys, about the basic units, and some basic strategies. Those can be found online for free, though. This book is only recommended for a person who really loves this game and wants the book just because.

Deceitful rubbish and FRAUD.,
By Wesley Michael Johnson (Louisville, Kentucky USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unlock the Secrets of Total Annihilation (Paperback)
This is the worst strategy guide I have ever read. Selby Bateman is a liar and a thief for publishing this so-called strategy guide because it contains about sixty percent NONSENSE. He calls units the wrong names half the time, made up bogus strategy to get the book done in time for release, and seems NOT TO CARE about having committed any of these wrongful acts on the buying public. ONLY LISTEN TO ME ON THIS ONE, BECAUSE ONLY I AM TELLING THE TRUTH HERE. DO NOT BUY THIS, IT IS GARBAGE, PURE AND SIMPLE.

It was worth it, I got it for free. It covers all the missions so it is good. And it covers all the units.
