Amazing Insight and Gifted Teaching,
By
This review is from: Unlocking the Bible (Paperback)
David Pawson's ability to explain the purposes and significance of each book of the bible is an amazing gift. It is apparent he has divine inspiration. From the opening discussion of the book of Genesis through the detailed review of Revelation, David Pawson brings the books into focus through modern day references and inspirational stories. His teaching has created a deeper, more intensive love for God's Word in my heart ~ I go back to this book time and time again for fresh inspiration.
I recommend this book to every serious bible student.

This review is from: Unlocking the Bible (Paperback)
This book has helped hundreds of people in my community to understand the bible like it was written, the insight and all the background information has opened up my understanding of the writers and my foundation for my believe. Jesus Christ is the son of God and David pawson explains in common language what it is all about. A book that you will use again and again as you grow in your faith and you seek for deeper knowledge

What a Great Book. What a great teacher! So rich in Knowledge, Truth and Understanding. I love reading David Pawson along with my Bible. This is not a verse by verse breaksown of the scriptures, but history, culture and insight. Yes it is helping open the eyes of my understanding.

Light-weight with many errors,
By
This review is from: Unlocking the Bible (Paperback)
I had long been looking for a book that would provide a comprehensive background to the culture and history of biblical times. This work promised much in this regard, but turned out to be a great disappointment. It is largely a transcript of Pawson's talks on the bible and as such, is very light-weight. There is very little here that could not be gleaned from a simple, chronological reading of the bible with some reference to a standard commentary such as Clarke. I found that the book was littered with opinion and traditional Western European/American beliefs, sometimes out-dated and incorrect, presented as fact. There are also, essentially, no references to back up anything he says. I was also quite shocked to find what I regard as a serious theological error in the assertion that if Adam had confessed his sin, God could have forgiven him right then and we would still be in Eden. So Jesus' death was unnecessary?
Someone unfamiliar with the bible might learn a fair amount (albeit superficially) from reading this book, but unfortunately, some of it would not be true. I therefore cannot recommend this work.

Giving you a key that is very much needed today,
This review is from: Unlocking the Bible (Paperback)
Unlocking the Bible is a helpful tool for anyone reading a bible, but haven't got the time to do endless research and dig into thick commentaries. It is filled with relevant background insights which brings each book of the bible to life and sheds light on a correct reading and understanding of it. So many "commentaries" are written for theology students which, let's face it the average believer is not going to read. This book fills that gap and is certainly very helpful to read through before or after having studied a book in the bible. It's a book for the everyday man or woman and I would highly recommend it! |
