Good, (and easy) read December 28, 2009
By einsam
Format:Paperback
I got this book from a friend, for free, which was kind of bad because I probably would have finished it quicker if I had paid for it. There's almost nothing new in this book that you haven't heard before. Well then why should you read it? Because, we get so bogged down in the day to day, we forget what's really important. This book is like that big slap on the side of the head you get when you know you were supposed to be watching the ball but instead you were checking out the girl in the third row or some other thing that was totally unimportant When I finished "Rent It Up", my next step was to start preparing to do lists regarding everything from marketing, customer relations and employee training. This is the book that will help you get off your posterior and get into action. Complacency is the root cause of mediocrity.

"Rent it Up" is targeted at the owner/manager who has at least two to three facilities. But it's valuable to anybody in the Self Storage business. Point of fact, it's valuable to anyone in any kind of sales position. I recommend it highly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is since I only have one store, some of the material (20%) didn't really work for me. But in just over one hundred pages there are a lot of things that do.

A great wake up call July 7, 2009
Format:Paperback
I am a smart guy, successful, bla, bla, bla....this book was a great wake up call for me to rethink whether I am smart or just lucky? Do I really serve or just sell? I think the author does a great job with concepts, dialogue flow and presentation.

I would highly recommend this book to people in the storage industry and really anyone in the public service sector.

An absolutely a fun and eye-opening read.

The book is not completely a waste of time, but it went directly into the recycle bin. The way this book was presented it seemed as if it would offer ideas on how to improve my business, but I found it provided no details at all. This book offered general sales strategies and vague, non-specific advice (like don't hire a morning person to work an evening shift). I felt like this was a personnel advice book and really had little to do with self-storage. I feel like I have been 'had'!
