4.0 out of 5 stars Better then I expected, March 4, 2005
This review is from: Unmasked (Paperback)
Mrs. Lawless has only one other book that I found in print. I figured that this book would be pretty good, if nothing else I know that she writes one hot sex scene and I knew this book was short enough I could get through it fast if it bored me. So, I was pleasently surprised when I found a really good plot in between the hot sex. I also found that I loved the characters. Even though the book is shorter then most novels, and you usually dont get to get inside the characters mind because there just arent enough pages in the book. Not so with this story. This story mainly takes place over three days, it is constant contact with the main characters for those three days. So, it almost makes it seem longer then that. A very action packed three days as well. No, it was not as involved as a full length novel, but it sure fits the bill.
This was a wonderfully sensual novel. Maybe because the story is over a three day period it is full of all kinds of action. Something is always going on and happening. Enjoy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unmasked Is A Fine Historical Read!, August 22, 2004
This review is from: Unmasked (Paperback)
This is the first time I've ever read Ms. Lawless. I am partial to historic romances set in Northern California especially San Francisco. When I found out that this was a turn of the century set read I quickly picked it up.

This was a fine read which included two great main characters,(Grayson and Aurora) that will have you as the reader rooting for their happily-ever-after. Finding that they are attracted to each other is not the problem. Realizing that their love is strong and can survive outside the estate boundaries of Grayson's house is quite another. This read offers not only a fine romance that is as sensual as it can be, but it also offers a suspese storyline regarding who killed Grayson's father.

I recommend this read for anyone that likes their romances spicy and sensual. This is a fast-paced read that will allow you to step into a wonderful make-believe world if for only a little while.

4.0 out of 5 stars fine erotic historical romance, August 1, 2004
This review is from: Unmasked (Paperback)
In 1899, grand adventuress Aurora Tremblay rides an air balloon so that she can breech the estate of wealthy Grayson Thorne, who has ignored her attempts to make an appointment with him. However, when the wind sends her balloon away, Aurora is forced to rely on the hospitality of her host who insists he has no one available to take her back to San Francisco. Besides which she knows the opportunity is now to obtain her desires from him, the San Francisco's Gaslight Theater which she wants to have.

She was unprepared for the private debauchery party that was taking place on his remote estate. Even more wild is her reactions to Grayson, who seems to know her inner most fantasies and more than capable he carries them out. Soon Aurora and Grayson fall in love, but who will venture first to admit that this is more than just bodies perfectly melding into one; it's a lifetime together carried by the wind everywhere they go.

UNMASKED is a fine erotic historical romance starring two nice protagonists who readers will like although both come across as the depraved idle rich with too much time on their hands, which is the power of Kathleen Lawless' interesting tale. The author's skills lead fans to root for this duet to realize they belong together not just in the boudoir, but also following the wind wherever it takes them just like angels in the wind. In many ways fans will admire the courage of the couple for doing what many folks fantasize doing, but consider a guilty TABOO.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faithful New Fan, May 22, 2006
This review is from: Unmasked (Paperback)
I have read several of Kathleen Lawless' books. Untamed (and Taboo) are definately my favorites. I love a good sexy read, but to have one that has great characters and a great story line is even better! I am looking forward to her next book.
