The Sweetest Jazz,

This review is from: Unmei (Audio CD)
Sitting in my room, drinking tea and listening to Brian Owen's "Unmei" is one of the most relaxing things I have experienced in my life. Brian's music certainly soothes the savage soul and adds meaning to the most mundane of daily activities. His trumpet sings with imagination and precision. And tunes like "Perkoosha 3" get stuck in your head, refusing to leave, while compositions such as "Waltz For Aska" (my personal favorite on the CD) grab your attention and hold it until the very final note.
The production is clean, but not lifeless. The playing is always exciting, but never excessive. And the heart of the music is constantly beating... One understated highlight of the CD is John Hansen's piano playing. He adds yet another touch of class to an already classy CD. I recommend this CD to anyone who loves Jazz. You will not be dissapointed. It's always great to find local talent like Brian... Seattle will miss this young, budding, gracious musician when he moves to California. Keep it up, Brian!
