Biography

The beginning
In 1981 Bassist Jason Newsted moved to Phoenix and had a band with the name "Gangster". Then Jason met drummer Kelly Smith, who already had a band named "Paradox". Jason (also doing the vocals) and Kelly played their first professional gig as "Dredlox" together with guitarists Mark Vasquez and Kevin Horton. Kelly saw Eric A. Knutson sing at his high school talent show and one summer… Read more in Amazon's Flotsam & Jetsam Store

I just recently started listening to Flotsam and Jetsam. I love their old stuff but I really like this CD the best. This album is definatly underated.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a F&J fan, but I like this album, January 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Unnatural Selection (Audio CD)
I suppose this would be like a non-metallica fan saying that the new Reload cd is brilliant, so keep in mind I'm not trying to come off like that. I like this cd ok, it's not a favorite, but it's got some cool stuff. My favorite on the cd is Welcome To The Bottom. It's got a good blend of acoustic and electric guitars, setting the mood for the song quite well. I wish there was more of this on this particular cd. There's a funny song on here called F**kers, too. They have some cool heavy guitar riffs on here, and the drums sound the way Vinnie Paul's do in my car stereo - not the drummers, just the mixing. I suggest downloading a few songs to sample the cd, you may or may not like it. But if you do like it, help support us musicians, and buy the cd.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst Flots album yet..., July 23, 1999
This review is from: Unnatural Selection (Audio CD)
Wow. I can't believe how disappointed I was to finally hear this record. The new drummer isn't bad, but the band and new guitarist were trying for something a little TOO different, and didn't succeed. I miss songs like "I Live, You Die", "Blindside" and "Monster". Bring back the heavy groove, guys.
