5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Wilderness Adventurer, May 7, 2010

This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Adventure Travel in Alaska (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
I bought this book for my husband who is up in Alaska working for the summer. I really had a hard time finding a book that had more information on Alaska than just where to get the best crab legs along cruise routes. My husband would be doing less tourist-ing and more adventuring during his time in Alaska. He was thrilled with all the information at the front of the book that gave Alaska-specific tips about safety, supplies, and "what to expect."

This book is perfect for you if you are looking for information about hiking, climbing, camping, and rafting/kayaking trips and only the occasional paragraph about in-town accommodation and great dinner spots. The beginning of the book is organized by activity rather than by region, but you can also look up info about specific regions too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful book on Alaska and Tracy Arm, July 11, 2009
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Adventure Travel in Alaska (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
Tracy Arm is by far the most scenic trip there is. On my trip I saw unbelievable calving glaciers, bears, humpback whales, killer whales, beautiful waterfalls and much more. I definitely recommend going to Tracy Arm. In fact, there is a DVD on Tracy Arm called "Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience". The DVD captures the beauty of this incredible place. The DVD is available on Amazon.

I highly recommend Tracy Arm. If you get a chance, experience it yourself.

Great if you're taking a vehicle tour of Alaska, going off the main cruise ship drag so to speak. Lots of information.
