5.0 out of 5 stars Memorize this book! or just take it with you, March 23, 2006
By
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
I used the Walt Disney World version of this book 10 years ago to good effect. So when we planned a trip to Disneyland for the 50th celebration early March we bought the 2006 Disneyland version. This time I really studied all the ride types and paid attention to the "not to be missed" portions of the book. What a difference!! We rode nearly everything and got character pictures. We used pretty much all the suggestions in the book, and were even referring to it on the last day. The different ratings and motion sickness guides helped enormously. Knowledge is power, this book is very accurate and indispensible. Oh, and the incredible thing is, not many people seem to follow their advice, because we barely waited in line, and breezed past a lot of people with our fastpasses. Thanks for writing this fantastic guide!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Trip!, June 14, 2006
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
We went in a group of about 10 to Disneyland and found the guide to be very helpful in decideing which rides to go on. We took the book's advice to arrive early and get on the big rides first. Our group was ahead of the rush everytime. What is great about the guide is that it gives you ratings for each ride. I am a scardy-cat when it comes to rides so I made sure what type of ride it was and saw if it had the potential to really scare me. The kids in our group were very adventurous and got on all the rides! I think the author did a good job explaining that the guide is not a fit for everyone and that each visitor should tailor the advice to their needs. It also gave information on California Adventure, as well as dining information in both parks. The most helpful tid-bit: Alcohol is not served in Disneyland but is sold in California Adventure. :)

This was a great help to us. We had a plan, and it made the vacation much more relaxing, knowing we would be able to get to everything we wanted to. Our first trip as a family to Disneyland was a great success, and next time we go, we will definately check out the updated Guide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, October 25, 2005

This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
This guide is the best guide to Disneyland. It reviews hotels in the area, giving useful comparisons. It gives detailed reviews of every attraction in the resort that are exactly right, in our opinion. It critiques the attractions in several different categories that are useful. The sample touring guides are helpful in making the most of your days at Disneyland and California Adventure. We wish they would do a little more review of downtown Disney and the restaurants in the area, but the information is this guidebook is always absolutely useful and correct.

We have been to Disneyland MANY times, but still found this book very useful in planning our last trip. With two very young kids, our previous trip to Disneyland had been more exhausting than fun, and we wanted to make it better. The tips and schedules in this book showed us how. We followed a few of the schedules for the first half of a few of our days at the parks, and got to more attractions with less hassle and less waiting than we ever had before. I now agree with the statement in the book that going to Disneyland without a plan is akin to getting a frontal lobotomy - we had so much more fun and so much less stress and wasted walking with our plan - even if we did feel like complete geeks the entire time we were working on it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone before a Disneyland vacation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as WDW version, but still excellent, March 28, 2006

This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
I'm a relatively frequent traveler to Walt Disney World in FL, and I usually buy the Unofficial Guide to WDW when I'm planning a trip. It's invaluable! The resort and restaurant guides give excellent help in choosing where to stay & eat, and of course the touring plans save us many minutes per day when we're not standing in line for attractions. I haven't been to Disneyland yet (we're going this week!), so I don't know yet how well the touring plans work, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of other information. There are no guest ratings or reviews for restaurants, and the restaurant descriptions are pretty thin. I'm still glad I bought the book, but I think the authors need to beef it up just a tad.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Disney Must-Have, March 27, 2006
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
I have used both the DW and DL versions of the book and they both proved themselves to be worth the money - for any of the parks they mention in the books (sometimes include Universal Studios). I have done the parks with and without kids and either way we were able to beat the lines and cover an entire park (sometimes 2) easily in one day. I don't always agree with the author's opinions related to the rides, but I keep buying the books! Follow the touring plans and you can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a keeper!!!, July 3, 2006
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
This book was so full of information. It addressed every age group and the best ways to see Disneyland depending on the ages and numbers in your party. It provides helpful dining tips, tips on when to see certain attractions and hotel information. We have made reservations and can't wait to go to Disneyland with the whole family. It is a quick and easy read with lots of humor and differing points of view.
