I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is starting or who has a small business. There is a ton of good information and great references given throughout the entire book. I am very impressed with the amount of good information in such a small, compact book.

I just got the book and cannot put it down. Ms. Turner makes a potentially dry subject come to life. I particularly like the sidebar information, good examples to support the overall message.

This is one of the best books I've read on this subject. Marcia Layton Turner really knows her stuff. I bought several copies to give to friends who are thinking about starting businesses.

Although it doesn't say it in the title, this book is obviously geared towards women and minorities.
In each chapter there are several "hints", or "tips" contained in text boxes to help get your business running smoothly. However, in about 90% of these the author refers to associations, web sites, grants, loans, mentorships or business clubs that cater exclusively to women or minorities. Whats with this? Since when do the guys not need help? I cant believe none of the other reviewers have mentioned this...
Aside from this one fact, this book has been very helpful to me so far and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to most anyone.

This Guide is an Excellent resource for one starting a new business. It renders some very meaningful and behind the scenes content that most books gloss over or don't even mention. A great buy and handy tool to have on your desk even after starting a business.

It's good, if you want to start a biz, it can make you think twice. Most people start a biz and fail. Well they din't plan... somehow they plan to fail. That book dose not talk much about legal stuff.

i was planning to start my own business, and this guide helped me alot understanding many things, specially since i almost have no idea about the whole business setup requirements.
this guide is very useful specially for US business startups.
