5.0 out of 5 stars USEFUL & INFORMATIVE, January 9, 2007
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas 2007 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
I've been a fan of Bob Sehlinger's "Unofficial Guide" books ever since I bought the DisneyWorld guide some years ago. The Vegas guide is on a par with the Disney books...well-researched, with extensive and sometimes witty reviews and insider tips of hotels, casinos, restaurant options, side trips, gambling info, etc. Once I start these books I can't put them down and always get excited about an upcoming trip! The only gripe, if you can call it that, I have is he focused more on the upscale dining options and didn't include many others, including buffets in detail. However, there are so many restaurants in Vegas, and so many different opinions on buffets, that I can forgive this.

My wife and I spent a week in Las Vegas recently. We've been going there every few years. The information and maps provided come in very handy. The hotel reviews are on the button. We stayed at the New York New York, and the review was about right. Last year, we stayed at the Monte Carlo, and again, the review was on the button. We had some excellent steaks at Mon Ami Gabi, not far from our hotel. If you plan on staying in Las Vegas for longer than a week, you will want this book.

I really like these "Unofficial" guides. Las Vegas changes so much that you almost have to buy a book yearly but I waited for 4 years to buy this one and it's just right! I can't tell you how accurate the information is until I take my trip but it sure has helped in the planning stages.

I've purchased a few "unofficial" guides in this series and have always been satisfied. The Vegas guide delivers amazing depth, while also entertaining the reader. I'd read it even if you aren't going to Vegas!

I have purchased this publication for a number of years. I keep purchasing this book because it keeps up with the many changes in casinos and entertainment. It is the best travel guide I have ever used when visiting Las Vegas. Well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book to Take to Vegas, July 17, 2007
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas 2007 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
We have used the other "Unofficial" Guide books and this one had good info that we used while in Vegas. Excellent reviews for shows and food. We were not disappointed. Would like to see Timeshare Accomodations included in the lodging. Our timeshare experience was excellent. A great option instead of the standard hotel. Another excellent "Unofficial" guide.

I know it's from 2007 and it's probably been updated (so buy the updated version) but I read this book before making our first trip out to Vegas and found great tips about Vegas such as: To watch the Bellagio Fountain show from the top of the Eiffel Tower-at the Paris!

Which bars/restaurants are where and what they are like so we didn't waste time looking for where we wanted to eat and check out!:
Coyote Ugly
The Bar at the Times Square
Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville
Toby Keith's I Love This Bar
Dick's Last Resort

Madame Tussauds Interactive Wax Attraction-I don't know why, but posing with wax famous people was so much fun so we're going back! =P

We just had a riot..so many fun places to go and see and this book had it all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Going to Vegas? Read this first!, March 10, 2007
This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas 2007 (Unofficial Guides) (Paperback)
If you want the skinny on Las Vegas this is a great book to read. With a city as spectacular as "Sin City," you want an authoritative book that spells it all out. This book does just that. Definitely worth reading before you go to the glamor capital of the world.
