Endless laughter, long after the book was looked at!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Unpleasant Ways to Die (Paperback)
I first saw this book in my spanish class in high school. The owner handed it to me and just sat back and watched as I broke out in laughter with every page I turned. That day in class was very quick compared to the usual hum-drum of day to day monotony. I didn't want that book to end ever. I liked it so much that I decided to go out and buy one for myself. That was 6 years ago, and the book is sitting right next to me by my computer. I still laugh every time I look at it! The book itself is now in shambles, with every page out of order and some missing, because I flipped through it so much! You know, I wish there was a website that had his material on it, because I'm almost positive that Mr. Fleisher has come up with several new pictures that haven't been published. What do you say, man? Do it for your fans! :) Thanks! Joe R.

VERY FUNNY,

Please note - you will have two reactions to this book - you will either LOVE it or you will HATE it. It really depends on whether you have a dark sense of humor and can laugh at the misery of others. While earlier reviewers are correct - they're not always the most clever ways of dying - they are still unpleasant. What I think makes the book particularly good is that the illustrations are outstanding. Every image conveys movement, despite the fact that it's just a drawing.

Great for a quick laugh,

This book is for people with a sense of humor, especially those of us who feel that anything can be made fun of at any time. I've gone through this book many times, and it's funny every time. Granted some of the "unpleasant ways to die" are funnier than others, but some of them are just downright hysterical. Great book, hoping for a sequel!

Unsurprising ways to die,
By A Customer
This review is from: Unpleasant Ways to Die (Paperback)
I bought this book on the strength of the amazing praise for it below. I can only think that the reviewers who laughed themselves sick over it must lead severely humor-deprived lives. While there are a few clever ideas here, all too many are trite, humdrum, and obvious, like an explorer being cooked in a cannibal tribe's pot. Like running into the back of a stopped bus on your bicycle. Like being in an elevator when the cable snaps. You might consider saving your money on this one. I wish I had.

Name of the book basically sums it up.,

This is probably the funniest book I've ever read. And best of all, NO WORDS!!! Many of the situations in the book are very humorous and others are just plain tasteless. Nonetheless, this is a great book.

Not Funny, Even for Me,
This review is from: Unpleasant Ways to Die (Paperback)
I normally have a rather dark sense of humor (I love Edward Gorey's "The Gashlycrumb Tinies" and Gary Larson's "The Far Side"), but this book -just isn't funny-. Most of the illustrations are completely non-humorous, and the few slight chuckles don't begin to make up for the rest. I was given this book years ago and disliked it at the time, and upon forgettinga bout and then rereading it, I disliked it just as much.
And as I said, I -am- the target audience for this book. Find something else to spend your money on.

Fleisher is an excellent illustrator. These cartoons may not be for everyone, but I found myself ROTFLMAO.

Seems like it would be the most disgusting book ever written but it turns out to be the funniest book ever written, no words needed, far side type.

This book is like watching America's Funniest Home Videos while watching a Piccolo Pete fizzle.
Very little cleverness, and doesn't make up for it with decent art. If you're a Gorey/JTHM fan, let this one pass.
