Michael Schenker Goes Unplugged!, January 17, 2009
This review is from: Unplugged Live (Audio CD)
Man! What a great show! The year was 1992 and the concert was recorded in Anaheim, California on March 25 with a three piece line-up consisting of Michael Schenker and Spencer Sercombe on guitars and Robin McAuley on vocals.
The booklet contains very detailed information about the unplugged tour plus all song lyrics! The set list is very interesting too as the band played a few classic UFO tunes that actually sound really good in this format: "Natural Thing", "Doctor Doctor", and "Lights Out". I remember when I was listening to the album for the first time, I wasn't so convinced about an acoustic rendition of "Doctor Doctor", but this is a great version! It is as good as the original if not better!
The rest of the songs come from the McAuley-Schenker Group albums "Perfect Timing" (1987), "Save Yourself" (1989), and a self-titled one from 1992. Some of my favorite songs include the rocker "Gimme Your Love", and the ballads "What Happens To Me" and "Anytime". There's also a short instrumental called "Perrier" where Schenker plays a cool solo.
If you are a fan of Schenker, then you should check this one out. Even if you are not convinced, just get this one for the acoustic version of "Doctor Doctor"! It's great!
Thanks for taking the time to read!

Special cd, November 29, 2008
This review is from: Unplugged Live (Audio CD)
I got to see the tour for this acoutic show on its US tour. Robin carried the show off very well and did a great job in doing the UFO tunes. The show had a very warm feeling to it and really connected with the fans.

Excellent Unplugged Show, October 26, 2008

MSG unplugged is an excellent CD, only compared to Scorpion's Acoustica (also a must) and Kiss MTV Unplugged.
Absolutely all the songs are worth it.
