5.0 out of 5 stars Remember The Ones You Left Behind, September 5, 2000
By
This review is from: Unplugged at the Lowlands Festival 97 (Audio CD)
Well, this is the end of Life of Agony as we know it. Back to scrapping the napster ruins and eBay bootlegs in order to find more tunes from these amazing artists. In a way, I am very happy LOA never made it big b/c the tone, meaning, enhancement, and wonderous thoughts that have blossomed from their 5 albums (3 really, the latter two were obligations) should be cherished by those who ingest their music, not carpet the country with their precious tunes. Basically, the Unplugged album is not very "unplugged." The first half of the cd is a live unedited unplugged show on the second stage in Holland. Most of the songs are from Ugly and SSS - the SSS songs fit well here. One bright spot are the versions of Let's Pretend and My Mind is Dangerous - MMID is the most sensational piece to ever come from LOA and it is even more apparent here. There is a surprise at the end of the show as LOA sneaks in one more tune with the full gear. Than we are taken to a live show back in 1993. Keith's voice is as ripe as ever and you can feel the emotion of LOA as they pound out RRR classics. The only missing song from the live set is Bad Seed that was a staple at many of the bands shows. Odd why it is not on the album. One thing though, Plexiglass Gate is a disappointing tease b/c it is the beginning of the song and than it carries into Respect. I guess for some of us, we would have liked to hear some of the original stuff like Plexiglass Gate, Coffee Break, and Drowning as live tracks to be cemented in our LOA collection, but unfortunately that is not the case. All in all, appreciate the final album in a wonderful collection of inspiring music that is amazingly rare to find and hear these days. Sorry folks, I'll keep my sheltered collection and quietly spread the word to those I feel are worthy enough to listen to it. Support Keiths' Died Laughing album or sorry Keith maybe not, maybe we'd like to keep you in the same cherished vault as LOA - not in the mainstream.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Last Album, August 29, 2000
This review is from: Unplugged at the Lowlands Festival 97 (Audio CD)
I will truly miss this band. If I could rewrite my reviews I give all their albums 5 stars. Stop comparing the albums with each other and accept them for what they are. The record is great. It was cool to hear loa in their heavy days but the unplugged stuff is really heart felt. Check out Among Thieves Alan's band, Stereomud Joey's band and Keith's solo record. Their all great bands. I am a fan for life plus I got the loa logo tatooed on my arm!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Stain Will Always Remain, August 25, 2000

Its hard to believe this will be LOA's last album, but it is an awsome way of saying goodbye. As we get one more look at Brooklyn New York's finest. The first 8 tracks consist of an amazing acoustic show from Holland. The show clocks in at about 40 minutes. The acoustic takes on these songs are extremely well done. ( The acoustic tracks consist of songs mostly off of "Ugly" and "Soul Searching Sun") The show was recorded a month prior to the release of "Soul Searching Sun". After the show there is an unreleased remix of "Other Side of the River", which is not much different than the original, but has a cool echo added over Keiths voice. After this track there are 3 tracks that were originally featured on the "River Runs Red digi-pack" and appear here in remastered form. These live tracks catch LOA at their best in their raw primal aggression. Then there are two bonus tracks including "my eyes" which was only played live once or twice. All in all this is an amazing comp. It is an awsome way to some up your LOA collection. Thank You Life of Agony for the 5 amazing records and the awsome nyhc demo tapes.. The stain will ALWAYS remain..
