Good emotional romance,
By Janet (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unravel Me (Berkley Sensation) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed Unravel Me more than How to Knit a Wild Bikini, but it might be because these are not typical Ridgway romances. These are more graphic in the sex scenes, and not so innocent heroines. Once I got past the thought that this was not going to be like her previous books, I enjoyed it much more. I found I had a hard time putting this book down. It was an emotional read with complex characters. The heroines and heroes have Ridgway's trademark great chemistry. Noah is the strong, protective hero and his soulmate is strong, but vulnerable. Very likable. Another reviewer commented on the older heroine "doing" the younger man, but she was actually only 33 and Noah was 30. Not much age difference, really.
This book set up the next book or two very well and I'm more anxious to read Cassandra and Gabe's story as Gabe has much to overcome to be the man Cassandra can give her heart to. It promises to be a heart-wrencher. This is a very enjoyable series and I remain a big Christie Ridgway fan.

I love this series!,

The series is about 3 sisters all from the same sperm donor find each and start to grow as a family - the 1st novel was How to Knit a Wild Bikini. In this novel it's the story of Juliet a widow in her early 30's who was married to older General. Noah worked for the General but now a year after the General's death he is started to act on his feelings for Juliet. I loved the secondary stories of sisters and evil step-daughter of Juliet's , Marlys. Looking forward to the next novel in this series Dirty Sexy Knitting.

entertaining contemporary romance,
This review is from: Unravel Me (Berkley Sensation) (Mass Market Paperback)
Being the widow of an US Army General usually means respect for the surviving woman, but in the case of Juliet Weston she receives none of that even from the tight knit military families. Instead the media condemns her for marrying a much older man while the military and his family scorn her as a gold-digger.
Having enough of the ridicule that she does not deserve, Juliet flees to her home in Malibu where she can grieve her loss without the nasty spins of the pundits or family. Her only companion is her late husband's trusted aide, Noah. However, she begins to fall for Noah at the same time she learns she has two sisters that she never knew existed. UNRAVEL ME is an entertaining contemporary romance starring a fascinating lead couple who each has doubts about falling in love with the other out of respect for her deceased husband who was his superior officer; adding to their respective discomfit both knows the timing is bad as she grieves her loss. The newly discovered sisters' subplot enhances a fine tale that fans of Christie Ridgeway will enjoy while anticipating two more "Malibu and Ewe" novels to follow. Harriet Klausner

Unravel Me,
This review is from: Unravel Me (Berkley Sensation) (Mass Market Paperback)
Juliet is learning to live life alone after the death of her hero husband US Army General Weston. She knows what she and Weston shared was real love, even if there was an age difference and his family scorns her as a gold-digger. She had predicted she would marry him when she was 13 after all. She has decided she will never love to that extent again.
Noah has decided that he may have been the General's Aide and helper as he died but his widow is not going to give up on love if he has anything to do with it. Noah has plans and the first will be to have her see him as the virile man who has been attracted to her for years. When Juliet escapes and finds herself at a local yarn shop (Malibu & Ewe) what she finds there is more than companionship and a new hobby. She finds a woman who looks similar to her and in face she find that she might have two sisters, who live locally even. Will Juliet be able to let all these people into her heart, or is it closed off for good? While some may see Unravel Me as a "cougar" story it is only that way due to the fact that the main character had married older in the first place. I enjoyed the double plot line of seeing Juliet find love and a family that she didn't know about. Additionally, the fact that it all revolves around a local knitting shop makes it even more fun. I could easily picture in my mind the schemes in Malibu & Ewe and how the energy would be catchy. I also had fun watching how Juliet finally starts to see the super sexy Noah as more than just a helping hand. I look forward to the final story in this trilogy. Let your imagination free and spend some time with the new breed of knitters at Malibu & Ewe, and the imagination of Christie Ridgway. Unravel Me is a great summer read. Unravel Me,

The book was fantastic!! I am knitting and reading fiend and this book managed to combine the two things that I love the most. While it is not my favorite book of all time, it is definitely a book that I will read again. It also encouraged me to look for more books that have similar themes.

Meh,

I was really looking forward to this book. I've just finished it and gone 'meh'. Not loving it not hating it, it's pretty beige. For me I think it's just a bland filler until we get to the Gabe/Cassandra story.

More like hard-core,

This review is from: Unravel Me (Berkley Sensation) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'd not read a book by this author previously, so I did not know what to expect. From the title and the back of the book, I thought it might be very light chick-lit. According to Jennifer Crusie, it is "Pure Romance, delightfully warm and funny." Sorry, Jennifer, this is not romantic nor is it warm and funny. It is pretty hard-core. If you want to read how many ways an older woman can do a younger guy - this is the book for you. If you want something romantic - find another book - I wish I had.
