Blown Away,
By
This review is from: Great Unravel (Audio CD)
Wow. I have about 1,300 albums and just picked up this album along with Flapjacks yesterday evening while hearing these guys for the first time in Cold Spring on the Hudson with my kids. I only got to hear three songs, but man am I glad I picked up three discs on the way out. I'm absolutely blown away how good these guys are and I don't know how the hell I haven't found them until now. Instantly in my desert Isle collection already. I can't figure out who they sound like, but it's an absolutely fantastic rootsy sound that blends Dylan, the Byrds, Tom Rush, Hot Tuna, The Dead, The Allman's, Wide Spread Panic, Counting Crows, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Big Head Todd, Dave Mathews,Buffalo Springfield, Drivin' & Cryin' and CSN, to name a few. And I like the occasional Celtic flair. Ok, a crazy list, but trust me, when you listen, you'll throw a few more on the list. Coming across guys like this reminds me why music is so great. Can't wait to see them again. Get this, and your hooked. Enjoy.

This band is AWESOME!!,
This review is from: Great Unravel (Audio CD)
This is the most incredible band, and an excellent CD! They just get better and better with every new album, and are even more AWESOME in person. If the Slambovians are ever playing near you, check them out!! They are not to be missed. I have every one of their albums, including the newest one, The Grand Slambovians! One of their best yet!

The best kept secret in Slambovia!,
This review is from: Great Unravel (Audio CD)
It's true that one can detect numerous potential influences in the music of this band, including some early Who, however the only way I feel comfortable describing them is saying they are so well put together, simply original, and very, very good. I know they have a loyal fan base but it still strikes me that they are flying under the radar some how. I've seen them twice now here in northern Michigan and the more I hear them the more intrigued I am by their sound and their song writing. Their performances are memorable for the talent on display and for their honesty and gracious nature. Plus, they just flat out jam. This album is full of rich classics. Buy it. Listen to it. Enjoy it.
