This is an interesting time-travel romance that begins in the Seattle area and moves back and forth through history . . . including Ancient Greece.

Hamish and Odette are struggling to regain a marriage shattered by the emotional and physical injuries that Hamish suffered as a national guardsman in the war in Iraq. Then a car accident not only separates them from each other in time and space, but allows a pair of spirits to take over their bodies.

The two main characters come across as quite "real," and the reader can identify with them both. I don't have a lot of free time to read right now, and I read the book in three days.

A very good read!

A good story, good characters and a good feel for the history. All told, I look forward to reading more of the author's work

Hamish and Odette, the protagonists, are at a crucial juncture in a shaky marriage when a car accident not only separates them from each other in time and space, but allows a pair of rogue spirits to take over their bodies. Hamish spends an incredibly short time in the Between - the timeless time traversed by bodiless souls seeking a chance to reincarnate - before being hurled into the body of a soldier in the middle of a battle in ancient Greece. Though not long for that world he succeeds in making powerful friends, who serve as guides in his and Odette's quest to return to their own bodies and lives. But the rogue spirits have no intention of relinquishing the bodies. They also have a great deal more experience than Hamish and Odette in moving through the Between and are far more ruthless.
Hamish is a flawed hero and Odette has been an enabler, which becomes clear to both of them in their predicament. But, will facing the truth give them the edge over the rogues and allow them to get their lives back on track?
The book is well-written, the actors credible and the snippets of history have been well-researched. It is definitely worth reading!
