5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME! GREAT MOD-NOT INCLUDED!, January 18, 2002

This review is from: Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition (Mac) (CD-ROM)
UT is a great game, and extremely addictive. Be ready to annoy friends and family with screams, explosions, and gunfire late into the night. Just one flaw. TACTICAL OPS IS NOT INCLUDED! I bought this expecting Tacops in the package as said in the review... NOT THERE! I did download Tacops, the modification, later, and it makes the whole package worthwhile! If you want to play the game through before you get the mod, though, be warned- YOU CAN'T! The assault map, HighSpeed, is bugged and generally crashes the game soon after you start playing. It may work to redownload that specific map, though...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best in Existence, January 19, 2002
By A Customer

I play Half-Life alot. I thought games couldn't be any more fun than that. That was before I played this game. I played 3 solid hours of this game at a friends house. I enjoyed every waking moment of the time. I wasn't even online. I hardly even tried new levels. I loved using mutators ()_() They added alot to the game. It was amazing. My favorite was low gravity. Anyway, if you're parents will allow you. This game is a must have. It will still keep you entertained even if you haven't got internet. A must have

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, October 20, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition (Mac) (CD-ROM)
I just got this game, and frankly I think its pretty darn good. Fun single player, great multiplayer! Best of all, it needs NO 3D HARDWARE. However, I found 2 flaws with this game:
1. Its a serious memory hog
2. Where is Tactical Ops? Its one of the main reasons I bought this game, and this feature seems to be nonexistent! I looked into this, and Tactical Ops is only in the beta 2 phase! Don't buy this game for Tactical Ops. I would give this game 5 stars were it not for this dissappointing empty promise......

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Quake 3, April 12, 2001
This review is from: Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition (Mac) (CD-ROM)
Wondering which one to get? I've got both and UT is better... More maps, better AI, more guns, less cartoonish than Quake 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars The all-time coolest FPS, December 30, 2002

Unreal Tournament. The ultimate FPS. Need I say anything further? Well, if I do, I'll start at the beginning. In Unreal Tournament(UT), you play as a sci-fi gladiator fighting in a massive galactic tournament. Despite it's age, the graphics are still impressive, and run well even on older machines. A variety of maps from a high-speed spaceship to an ancient temple to a gothic castle are all beautiful. Four game types iDeathmatch, an all out killing spree, Capture the Flag, attempting to capture the oponents flag to score points, Domination, holding checkpoints to rack up the highest score, and Assault, achieving objectives in an amount of time are the single player game types, with an additional Team Deathmatch, Rocket Arena, and Last Man standing modes for multiplayer allow for a wide variety of game types. To assist you in these game types is a widely varied arsenal of 12 weapons from ultraaccurate sniper to the devastating, short range impact hammer to the classic rocket launcher. I could go on all day sounding like an advertisement for this game, but trust me, it the closest thing to perfection I've ever seen in a game.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition (Mac) (CD-ROM)
Unreal Tournament is an awesome game. It is the best shooter other than Halo. There are tons of weapons and items. It is a must have for all gamers. I like all of the maps and each one is detailed and realistic. Great game!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest MULTIPLAYER GAMES ever, April 23, 2002

I love this game. It is truly a great game, but there was one big problem with it. The game was basically one big multiplayer game. The only exception is Assault where you have to achieve certain objectives to move on and conquer the other teams base. Although this might disappoint some true fans of UT I prefer Halo over this game. The multiplayer in Halo is almost the same although I love in UT how you can download infinite ammounts of modifications (like new weapons, levels, characters, modes, etc.) which make the game never boring. Here's how it goes. Also I loved the weapons in this game. The alternate fire is really coo. It's fun to find out which gun to use and figure out what to do with it in certain situations. If you want a strong 1 player mode stick with the Wolfensteins and Medal of Honors, but you should definitely buy this game no matter what.

This has to be one of the most addictive games I have ever played. With such a large UT community, and so many free expansions for the game available over the Net, there's just no reason that this game won't keep on reeling you in again and again.

The Game Of The Year Edition is awesome! The ChaosUT Modification really gives the game a bit of an extra punch, especially when you're playing against your friends!
WORTH EVERY CENT!
