Unreal Tournament 3 Original Game Soundtrack

I've been a diehard UT fan since I got the first for Christmas, and I've been a diehard techno (read, hard techno NOT TRANCE) fan since God knows when. So I'm going to step forward here and tell you that when it comes to either of these subjects, I'm pretty well qualified.

I'm going to be reviewing the CD out of game context, because it's not the game, just the music.

THIS CD IS AMAZING. Simply phenomenal. I'm honestly kind of glad they kicked Mr. Ripel off of the composing team, because while his arrangements were great, his gear was a bit on the cheap side. NOT HERE. The gear these guys used, along with the way they composed, this CD HAS KICK AND OOMPH. Great driving CD, just don't let the cops hear it if you want your "I didn't know I was speeding" excuse to fly.

The CD consists of selected arrangments and remixes of the old game's tracks and some new music. The arrangements/remixes are great, for once IMPROVING on the original tracks and bringing them into the modern age, not weakening them with tinny cheap synths. The synths are very bass filled yet crispy, and the orchestra is either live or a VERY good sound library. The artistic liberties with the source material are fantastic and in good taste, to the point where I could kick my fanboyism aside and prefer these versions of the tracks.

The new music is fantastic as well, high energy and lots of compositional depth. This is an awesome collaboration, 3 great composers PUTTING THEIR ALL into the soundtrack to make a FLAWLESS work.

If you are not a fan of the games but you are a techno lover, pick this up, it's ENTIRELY worth the money (and Amazon's one day shipping as well, thanks guys!).

If you ARE a fan of the game, you probably have purchased this CD already. ;)

Don't get me wrong, UT3 is a fantastic game. But there are certain aspects to it that need improvement. The soundtrack is a beautifully remastered endeavor of the original soundtrack from 2004, which had the best soundtrack of all the games. It is a shame Kevin R. didn't return for this soundtrack work, however these two new guys who created this soundtrack certainly gave it their all. This soundtrack is laden with high tension and smooth techno rhythm that meld into the gameplay for UT3 perfectly. It's definitely worth the 15 bucks, especially for two disks with 2 hours of music total.

Always liked the music on the game, so I bought the soundtrack and I actually listen to it sometimes while driving down the road and I love it!

This soundtrack contains over 30 tracks on 2 CDs of the music from Unreal Tournament III. As far as I can tell, everything is here and they didn't omit any of the game's music. Most of the tracks are a great blend of techno electronica and rock. There are a few tracks that use orchestral elements and asian influences. The Unreal franchise has always had good music but UT3 is the best soundtrack of the bunch in my opinion. A lot of these tracks are reworked versions of music from past Unreal games but there is also a lot of new music too. Considering its only about 15 bucks for 2 CDs (both clock in over 70 mins each) there is no reason why Unreal fans shouldn't snag this one up. Its a shame that all those part Unreal games haven't had legit soundtracks to own, but with Unreal Tournament III they finally realized there are people out there who love this music.

This is some amazing music. I gave it 4 stars because some of the songs just don't sound entertaining outside of the game, but the majority of them are simply astounding. My personal favorite is frozen babylon. I always liked ice levels/dungeons, so it's only natural that it would appeal to me.

If you're a fan of this genre, then this is a must have cd.

Awesome compilation, must get if you are a hardcore fan of the series! or if your into the trance chilliout music scene i guess. :D

I happen to be a fan of Unreal Tournament 2004 and was very happy to give Unreal Tournament 3 a try. The game looks gorgeous if you're computer has some pretty solid hardware, but the overall gameplay fails to match UT 2004, in my opinion.
