Unrestricted And All That. 8/10,
By LilBo (b town) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unrestricted (Audio CD)
Da Brat was out of the lime light for about 4 years but when she came back she came strong with 2 hot singles "That's What I'm Looking For" and "What Chu Like" both songs gave her more fame than she already had and she even got to host MTV's Total Request Live. She is one of the most underrated female rappers out there but she is one of the most gifted. Da Brat sticks out from the other female rappers in the game also she has her own unique look and she is very sexy.On her third disc Da Brat gives us nothing but hot joints such as the thirst quencher "Pink Lemonade" which is a cool song. Then there are the club bangers "We Ready", and "F@ck You". Other club joints are the hot "Back Up" featuring Ja Rule and "Hands In The Air" featuring Mystikal, and this track is hot because they both rhyme so fast. Kelly Price gives Brat some help on the song "Runnin Out Of Time" which is another hot joint with a hot beat. My 2 favorite tracks are "High Come Down" and "Chi Town" where she represents Chicago to the fullest and even though I am not from Chi Town I still feel Brat ripped this track and the chorus is sung by Latocha Scott and she sounds so damn good. Well check this album out because Da Brat is hot and she got skills.

After a decent debut Funkadfied.. a weak second effort Anuthatantrum..Da Brat is back in full force back stronger then ever with one of the hottest hip hop joints so far this year.. Dont believe me ? ! Put it in your system and watch your speakers blaze .. Da Brat and J.D puts it down some kinda lovely from the hypekinetic bump of We Ready to the shout out of her native hometown Chi-Town makes this joint a must for hip hop headz other noteworthy joints Whatcha Chu Like (featuring Tyrese) this track carries the riff of Montell Jordan's Get it On Tonite.. Back Up (featuring JaRule) Running Out Of Town( Featuring Kelly Price) That's What I'm Looking For What seperates Da Brat from other female rappers like Foxy Brown, Lil Kim ? Get this joint and you will find out

"Tight as a Hot Curl!",
This review is from: Unrestricted (Audio CD)
I have been waiting for my main women Da Brat to drop a cd and she has,a hot one. She was the first female to blaze open rap and hip-hop! (C'mon ya'll, first female to go platinum) I am not disapointed with her third project. Some more hot beats to bump in ya'lls jeep! Da Brat raps come of playful and fully aware of her sexuality (guys look out!) peep her new video? The intro is one of the hottest joints on the album, her flows is phenomenal ...Kelly Price throws it down on, Runnin' Out of Time, and you know I'm loving the anti-"hizzo" hating anthem...F**ck You. Jermaine Dupri put it down for the tracks as did Timbaland. Oh, and for a ya'll that don't get it, she didn't jack Montell Jordan, she flipped it...and made it better. What' Chu Like!

Guess Who's Back In Tha Muthaf**kin' House!,
This review is from: Unrestricted (Audio CD)
Da Brat's latest album, "Unrestricted" showcases her playful rhymes. With the help of vocalists Kelly Price and Tyrese, this album rounds out nicely. After the debut of the album's first video this week on MTV, Da Brat's reach should climb up there with albums of fellow Rap artists Dr. Dre, Missy Elliot and Lil' Kim's expected June release. "Unrestricted" could be one of the year's best!

An irresistable r&b/soul infused rap album,
By Nick (WA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unrestricted (Audio CD)
I've suddenly started listening to more rap, so I picked this record up on a whim kind of. I find that it's a good rap album for the people just starting to listen to the genre. It is very catchy (you can recite each song after just one listen) but at the same time it doesn't get really old really fast. Here are the tracks: 1.INTRO (ft. Millie Jackson & Twista): It's basically just like a short rap song with no hook. Not incredibly impressive, and probably doesn't really serve any purpose to the album overall. 2.WE READY (ft. JD & Lil Jon): A shameless promotional song, but very well done. It's a really catchy, cool song. 3.WHAT'CHU LIKE (ft. Tyrese): Instantly catchy and one of the album's highlights. It's a pretty nasty song, but at the same time really innocent and tame. 4.AT THE CLUB (Interlude): It's an...interlude! 5.F**K YOU: A really cool song. It's pretty funny and really cool. It's got a cool beat. 6.BACK UP (ft. Ja Rule): Another of the album's highlights. Ja Rule adds a lot to this song even though the chorus is so unbelievably cool that it would be okay without him. 7.HANDS IN THE AIR (ft. Mystikal): Really good production. There are horns and other brass instruments in the background that sound really cool. Mystikal adds a lot too with his trademark voice. 8.RUNNIN' OUT OF TIME (ft. Kelly Price): One of my favorites. The chorus is really cool and really catchy. Kelly's voice sounds really good. More of an R&B sound to this one. 9.THAT'S WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR: Although it was the first single, this is actually one of the worst songs on the album in my opinion. It has a really cool beat but gets old pretty fast. 10.BREEVE ON EM (ft. 22): Another lackluster song. It's okay and has more of a traditional rap/chant feel to it. It's kinda boring. 11.WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND (ft. 22, LaTocha Scott & Trey Lorenz): Another highlight. The salsa/tropical beat and the irresistable chorus set this song apart. 12.LEAVE ME ALONE (Interlude): A very short interlude. 13.HIGH COME DOWN (ft. LaTocha Scott & Trey Lorenz): This song is really cool. It reminds me of old seventies music or something. It's pretty laid back. 14.ALL MY B****S: Another chantish sort of song. It's addicting, as most rap is, but there's nothing really special about it. 15.PINK LEMONADE: "cool, refreshing, ooh" These lyrics are really weird. Seriously, this song sounds like a commercial. That is, until you really listen to the lyrics. 16.A WORD FROM DA BISHOP DON "MAGIC" JUAN (Interlude): An interlude :) 17.C'HI TOWN: An endless shout out to Chicago. It's got pretty dumb lyrics but it's a good ending to the album and overall a good song. ~ no lyrics included

Da Brat shows many signs of....."maturity".,
This review is from: Unrestricted (Audio CD)
There's plenty of Da Brat's usual funky, staccato rap style on Unrestricted, her follow-up to 1996's Anuthatantrum. But Unrestricted -- which features guest twiddlers such as Timbaland joining resident producer Jermaine Dupri -- is all about playing the field. Grown up but still attitudinal, Da Brat manages to sound as sultry as her R&B soul sisters without deigning to play the sex kitten. On an amorous duet with Tyrese, "What 'Chu Like," she prowls and growls, then simmers Caribbean-warm on "What's on Ya Mind." She drops Rasta raps in "Back Up'' with Ja Rule, then meows like a feline looking for her tom on "Breeve on Em." Da Brat still carries traces of the novice hardcore kid of 1994's Funkdafied, but now she's learned how to make love and trouble at the same time.

She Did Much Better On This One,
By dOc "undergroundmuzic" (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unrestricted (Audio CD)
Her last CD, I didn't care much for, but this one is akeeper. Brat has one of the tightest rhyme flows out today, male orfemale. From Ghetto Fabulous to Sexy Sista, Da Brat has with stood the test of time. This CD was a must have for me after hearing "what chu' like" featuring Tyrese and "back up" featuring Ja Rule. The CD and her ryhme content expresses her new found figure, which I think was a lil too much, but over all it was a great buy. To put her style to one area of the hip-hop globe is impossible because of her versatile rhyme style (she proves her many flows on "All My B**chs" {check out how she changes flows} and the "Intro"). It does have it's let downs with too much focus on how much income she is grosses, she way she spends it and her two new bigger friends. I've got to give it up to JD for bringing her from Chi-Town to the dirty south to shine in the hip-hop game. Da Brat and Rah Digga are the hottest females in hip-hop right now and holding up to the task very well. oNe

I really don't know if the new look is making her soft or the new found attractiveness by men, I don't know but what happen. Anuthatantrum, the Brat snapped but on this she only has a few good tracks, the intro with Twista and Millie Jackson, tracks 3,7 and 9. what happened? Maybe that 12 year is right, now it is for the money and fame f@#k the lyrics and beats. One.

The girl is bad. This is the best female hip hop cd thats been put out in a long time. I was disapointed in her previous cd but Unrestricted makes up for that disapointment. I mean every last song is off the hook. I recommend this CD to every hip hop fan. If you have a child thats a hip hop fan like my 10 year old is, be sure to get them the edit version.
