4.0 out of 5 stars Great band that should have kept with it
A friend of mine brought this CD back from Europe and showed it to me. I was damn impressed with the power these guys had together, and I like the fact that they blend really simple, heavy riffs with some very technical stuff. Maybe part of the reason I liked them so much was because the first time I heard them, metal was just getting poular again in the form of no-talent...

3.0 out of 5 stars Belgian Metal Leaders
I had the privilege of seeing Channel Zero live for over three times. Experiences that I'll not easily forget. But this album (their debut and not their first) was a bit dissapointing. I didn't get "live-feel" when listening to it (note: i wasn't comparing it) but I'd keep getting an image of a record studio in front of me. The sound is too cleanly produced...

The sound is too cleanly produced and is flawlessly played, elements that don't give Channel Zero too much credit for a typical live band. Nevertheless the album contains - in my opinion - five great songs which you've got to hear. Those songs are "Suck My Energy", "Help", "Heroine", "Unsafe" and "As A Boy". Although I'm not too keen on the production, this album was their best. It's sequal was called "Black Fuel" after which the band deceided to split up.

A friend of mine brought this CD back from Europe and showed it to me. I was damn impressed with the power these guys had together, and I like the fact that they blend really simple, heavy riffs with some very technical stuff. Maybe part of the reason I liked them so much was because the first time I heard them, metal was just getting poular again in the form of no-talent rap-metal that I just frankly can't stand. Hearing a new band (new to me) that had talent and actually had a feeling of melody was a godsend. It's too bad these guys split up only one album later. This band could have been really popular if they could have toured in the States for any long period of time. Check out the power of tracks like Lonely, As a Boy(a anthem for anyone who's ever been pissed off), and Sucking my Energy. Also, watch for the track at the end of the last song. Fast forward through the last song, and after about two minutes of silence, There's a really cool song called Eye for Eye. If you are into metal, especially bands like Metallica or Iced Earth, you're gonna love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Belgian Metal!, August 11, 2008

This album deserves more publicity than it has got, this band doesnt even have a wikipedia page! listening to this album 13 years later it still sounds as fresh as it did when it was released, its a shame they disbanded, but pick this up, its alot better than most of the metal bands around today
