Editorial Reviews

From one of the most nominated, most in demand artists and winner of 'Best New Artist' 2010 American Contemporary Jazz Awards, comes this revealing portrait of a young lady that has captured the attention and imaginations of fans and critics alike. With three nods, Best New Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Brass Player at this year's Contemporary Jazz Awards the accolades continue. Painted with a broad musical brush, Unscripted'doesn t play by the rules and captures the essence of the deep connection she has with her instrument as she delivers a scintillating palate of moods and flavors worthy a feast for the ears, yet one which will move the heart. Everything is on the table here as Bradley bares her soul on the heartfelt and plaintive 'Inevitable', you ll feel the pure magic and the ensuing goose bumps that happen when she and producer Michael Broening weave their own musical tapestry on the standard 'You Don t Know What Love Is', feel the fire and ice as Cindy brings the heat on the track 'Massive Transit', the ice as she blows a hip chill over the Wayne Shorter classic 'Footprints' and bask in the raw emotion that comes from the deeply personal dedication to her mom 'One Moment More' Respect has been earned, nods have been given to her predecessors and peers and Bradley has taken her rightful place among the new guard who will proudly carry the contemporary jazz torch into the new millennium. 'Unscripted is the beginning pen and chapter in hers, a story that has just begun to be written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new sound June 27, 2011
By coda
Format:Audio CD
Though a horn lover, I am not usually into trumpet players in contemporary jazz. There's Rick Braun, of course and Randy Brecker... Wayne Shorter? But this is a real a treat.

I can't put my finger on it but the album has a definitive vibe to it, a fusion of "nu jazz", smooth with a touch of house, soul, funk and cool. Sounds hard to achieve but it really is as diverse as can be and continues to surprise throughout. And that's a great thing - you can go through it in a single sitting without getting bored and be left wanting for more.

I would recommend it heartily to any cjazz/smooth fan and can really appreciate why Cindy's been awarded Best New Jazz Artist & Best Brass Player for 2011. Can't wait for more of this--for now, it goes into the car charger and in my ipod.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit by Cindy Bradley "UNSCRIPTED" July 4, 2011
By saxman
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This CD was recently released and is Cindy Bradley's 2011 offerring of smooth jazz trumpet. On this album Cindy plays mostly trumpet and flugal horn, although she sometimes plays something called a flumpet, cross between a trumpet and flugal horn. The rhythm section and horns are top notch, its a wonderful CD that smooth jazz lovers must have. Cindy records on Trippin'n Rhythm records. Add this one to your ipod...you will not be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN EXTREMELY "LIFTING" MUSICAL EXEPRIENCE!!! June 27, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
To show my appreciation for good smooth jazz music, and Ms. Bradley's music in particular.I PRE-ORDERED this CD as soon as I found out the release date so that I would be among the 1st to get it.This is "AS GOOD AS A CD CAN GET" in my opinion. You can go through the list of songs and give just about all of them no less than 9.5 out of 10.Inevitable,One Moment More,Pink Slip,Footprints,Deja Blue are all excellent examples of smooth jazz Trumpet & Fluglehorn precision. But on most CD's there is one shining star, one song that you want to hear again & again, and on this CD that moment for me is the exqusite 'LIFTED'. The rhythm of this song pounds at you like a locomotive, albeit one you would never want to see leave the station. The combination of electric & acoustic guitar in concert with Ms. Bradley's 'lifting' trumpet makes this future classic seem that there are layers upon layers of exqusite sound that you dont want to stop hearing, which is precisely the reason that I have to hear this song at least 3 times every time I play this CD.This song has to be the most appropriately named song that I have ever heard, for I feel 'lifted' every time I hear it.I've been listening to smooth jazz for a long time and I dare to say with complete confidence that this song is as good a smooth jazz song as I have heard in my lifetime. With this new offering by Ms. Bradley it will be extremely hard to keep her name out of one's mouth whan mentioning the cream of the crop not only for her particular instrument, but of the smooth jazz genre as a whole. As the title of the review states.THIS CD IS A TOTALLY LIFTING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!
