The Empress Has No Clothes...,

...or at least nothing that doesn't make her look like trash. Five stars? Please! This album is forgettable dreck, way over-synthed to try to cover up her weak voice. "You Can't Control Me" has a laughable Timbaland wannabe muttering something like "Huh?" to give it that "authentic" urban vibe, but it just makes it sound more derivative and contrived than anything else. It's just sad that innocent plastic had to die for this misbegotten CD to be made.

I heard all the songs on the album and i can say she is just about as good as heidi montag... They are both a big joke. Its almost embarrasing to listen to it and her video is even worse.

This was an okay album for a reality star. I mean she's hot but her singing is okay. Her music video was alright as well. Just another L.A. chick trying to extend her 15 minutes of fame.

Is this for real?,
This review is from: Unscripted (Audio CD)
These songs are so amateurish and unoriginal it's hilarious. Apparently the "artist" has been lied to and told she has talent. Buy this album only as a gag gift.

Uggghh please make it stop,
This review is from: Unscripted (Audio CD)
I gave this CD a chance since I figured with her reality show being high profile that she could have recruited a voice coach and/or a well known producer. This is embarrassing dreck with all the synth layers and the stupid moaning BS. Oh please, not again! I don't know how much of this embarrassing failure is due to her Svengali D-nozzle boyfriend Skate, Slate.....whatever his name is

Money and Connections really work,
This review is from: Unscripted (Audio CD)
This is horrible. It doesn't even sound like she is trying. I guess knowing someone with money and very well connected can really work for you.

Not that bad!,

Geez you guys are harsh! I admit it's not that good but not that bad. I actually like her spanish songs alot better than the english speaking. It's not more manufactured than other pop singers (i.e. Britney)so I don't know where the criticism comes from. I am late with reviewing her cd, but she's alot better than the other Housewives "singers" if you ask me.

Since I earn my living as a musician, every time someone from reality TV decides that they want to pursue a singing career, I tend to roll my eyes. I'm happy to say that this is actually a good album, and worth listening to. Jo is able show something of a good range of styles, though for me the strong point in the album are the dance numbers with marked ostinatos in the bass lines - very catchy.
I've read a few reviews that are somewhat dismissive and critical about the sound of the album (over-synthesized, a lot of mic work, etc.), and there is no denying the presence of that "edgy-pop-sound" aka "manufactured-pop-sound". Honestly though, I'm not hearing any more of that here than in any Britanny, Jessica Simpson, or even Rihanna album...and let's face it...that's the target audience!

End of the Summer Hit Record!,
This review is from: Unscripted (Audio CD)
This album is GREAT. I was skeptical as well of Jo's ability to really come up with good music, and sing it as well as she did, especially after that little blip on the show where she kept screwing up. But her range has definitely increased and become more steady, her voice is gorgeous, and yet ambiguous enough so that every one of all races, and flavors of music can sing along to it.
