Very Empowering,

This review is from: Unsettling: A Novel (Hardcover)
I just finished reading the book. The characters were so real and deep. I really got to know and love them. They felt like real women with real strengths and real problems and the real power to change their lives for the better. This book will encourage you to un-settle and go for what you really want in life. Every 30 or 40-something woman should read this and feel the power for herself.

Hysterical and REAL,
By A Customer
This review is from: Unsettling: A Novel (Hardcover)
I picked this book up after reading the flap and the description, and decided to go ahead and buy it. I'm REALLY glad I did!! The characters are fun and REAL--they speak the way my friends and I speak. It's laugh-out-loud funny, and I kept reading passages aloud to my husband because I enjoyed it so much. I've already passed the book on to a friend, and she loves it, too. Definitely a five star read!

I read the free preview online and fell so in love with the opening chapter that I had to rush out and buy it! This is one of those really fantastic books that you read in a few hours time, then want to go back and savor over and over again.

Real Women Are Unsettled,
By
This review is from: Unsettling: A Novel (Hardcover)
The First Wives Club and Waiting to Exhale meets "Real Women Have Curves," "Stand By Me," and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." It's "Life Lessons for my Latina Girls," with life lessons for us all mixed in a curandera's brew of magic, friendship, family, and truth. Four amigas go off to see the wizard in a decidedly non-"Thelma and Louise" spree that includes saving a pregnant girl from abuse, stopping a robbery), confronting bears and a daughter's lesbian love, and rediscovering love. When they get to the Wizard--a legendary curandera--will she give them a heart, the nerve, the brains, and the freedom to get home to Kansas? Don't settle for any novel but Unsettling. You'll cheer for the laughing, catfighting, healing, and love these four sisters-by-friendship experience.

This review is from: Unsettling: A Novel (Hardcover)
I loved this book. The characters were very real and so much like women I know. Strong, intelligent, warm and funny, the characters leapt off the page and into my heart. I really liked these women. I wanted them as my friends. The problems they had and they ways in which they dealt with or avoided them were touching and real.
This book made me laugh and cry. It was wonderful storytelling with well developed and believable characters. I will keep this book on the shelf I reserve for favorite, read again books. |
