As with the five other jammed packed boxed sets, including Ghosts, Miracles, Psychics, UFO's and Bizarre Murders, this "Strange Legends" Unsolved Mysteries DVD should also be on your shelf. Nearly 27 stories hosted by Legend Robert Stack (nearly 7+ hours of cozy documentaries for your viewing pleasure is sure to keep you wanting more and more.

Some stories, while better than others, will keep you entertained completely. You'll learn about the possible curse of Karate Legend Bruce Lee and son Brendon, The Search for the Holy Grail (the cup that Jesus drank at the Last Supper. The incredible search for Big Foot in the southwest, the legend of Billy The Kidd, was he shot and killed or did he live to be an old man? You'll go back in time to Elvis' last day and learn how some believe he committed suicide. The incredible and historic story of John Wilkes Booth is also included, there could be proof that he escaped after assasinating President Lincoln and lived until the early 1900's! The crazy story of a living Moth Man that plagues a small town in Virgina leaving everyone wondering what they saw. This and tons more as you explore this mongo DVD collection.

As always, Robert Stack thrives as the narrator of the series and will be sorely missed. The 4 discs also include commentaries by producers/directors/creators on select segments during your stay. Enjoy!

An excellent series with many interesting stories. Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack.
Episodes
Disk 1- Elvis' Last Night- The mystery and story of Elvis Presley's last night. How did Elvis really die? Unsolved Mysteries talks to Elvis's friends and stepbrother.
Brandon Lee- The son of Bruce Lee died in a shooting accident on the set of a movie. Was Brandon a victim of the Lee family curse, or was it just bad luck?
Eliot Ness- Eliot Ness investigated a series of gruesome murders in Cleveland from 1935-1938. 12 Mutilated bodies of transients and prostitutes and no suspects were found. This is the only case Ness never solved.
Holy Grail- There exists in present day England a chalice known as the Nanteos Cup that some believe is the true holy grail, the cup from which Jesus drank at the last supper.
Amelia Earhart- story of the disapearance of the famed aviator and Unsolved Mysteries examines several theories on what happened to her.
Alcatraz- tells the story of three Alcatraz prisoners that escaped from The Rock and were never seen again. Also Robert Stack tours the famous prison and profiles some of its most notorious inmates. Very Interesting.

Disk 2- Noah's Ark- Recently two research expeditions combed the mountains of Ararat in Turkey and both believe they have located the remenents of Noah's Ark.
Martin Luther King- Did James Earl Ray really kill Martin Luther King? This story contains allegations of conspiracy and raises questions of a cover-up by government investigators.
Bigfoot II- adventurer and explorer Peter Byrne leads an expedition into the Oregon backwoods to prove whether or not this fabled creature exists. Infared cameras on helicopters search for and find tantalizing evidence.
Sonny Liston- Investigates the story of boxing great Sonny Listons death.
Who Killed Superman? Story of the death of George Reeves who played Superman in the 50's. Investigates his murder or death.
Billy the Kid- Some people believe that Billy The Kid wasnt actually killed by Pat Garrett- that he lived in relative obscurity as ''Brushy Bill Robert''. A historian thinks it was actually Billy's partner who was shot and killed im 1881.
BC Sea Monster- Investigation into the sea monster in Canada called Cadbourosaurus or ''Caddy''. Butchers found the carcass of a creature resembling a sea serpent in the belly of a giant whale.

Disk 3- Elvis' Twin- Few people know that Elvis Presley was haunted his entire life by the specter of his dead twin brother, who died in childbirth. Peter Whitmer studies the psychology of twins and believes Jesse's death had a profound effect on Elvis and was the driving force between Elvis's creative genius and destructive tendencies.
Yeti- Tom, a scientist and businessman believes he found proof of existance of the Yeti, after years of leading expeditions to the Himalayas.
DB Cooper- 1971, soft spoken man named D.B. Cooper hijacks an airliner, forces it to land then released the passengers. Claiming his briefcase had a bomb he forced the crew to take off again then parachuted from the plane with 200,000 dollars he extorted from authorities. Did he live or die?
Huey Long-Tells the story of senator Huey Pierce Long from Louisiana who was murdered by an Assassin's bullet. Was Huey killed by the assassin or accidently shot by his own body guards?
Who plugged Bugsy? Bugsy was celebrated for his matinee idol good looks and his occasionally white hot temper. After his assassination many suspects emerged, Lucky Luciano and many more. The case was never solved.
John Wilkes Booth- Some believe that John Wilkes Booth was never shot and someone else was buried in his place. The fugitive, who was killed in a Virginia tobacco farm had red hair and freckles; however Booth, who had been called the ''handsomest man in America'' had dark brown hair. He also had a scar on his neck that was not found on the body in the barn. Some believe Lincoln's assassin had escaped and lived until 1903.
Mona Lisa- When Da Vinci died in 1519, the secret of the Mona Lisa's identity went with him to the grave. However, recent computer analysis may have revealed a startling clue to her identity. Could Mona Lisa have been Da Vinci himself? Very interesting story.

Disk 4- Agatha Christie- Mystery writer Christie is mad at her husband and ''disapears''. Police look for her and fear shes been abducted. Three weeks later shes found at a spa suffering from ''amnesia.'' Was she kidnapped, or did she have a secret rendezvous with a secret lover?
Skunk Ape- Tales of an infamous skunk ape creature said to roam the Everglades. There have been several sitings, photographs have been taken, footprints and hair samples have been found but the scientific samples show that the hair samples are not from animals found naturally in the Everglades.
Chair of Death- in the tiny village of Thirsk, in the local museum, sits a valuable antique chair. According to locals the chair is cursed with an astonishing and lethal power.
RFX Pix- Scott Enyart, a Photographer, says that at the instant senator Kennedy was shot in the pantry of the Ambassador Hotel, he was there taking pictures. The police confiscated the rolls. After winning the lawsuit the film mysteriously disapears from the car of the government courier returning the photos to Enyart.
Anastasia- Was the Russian czarina actually murdered or did she miraculously escape? This story examines the death of the Romanovs and whether Anna Anderson was really Anastasia.
Bermuda Triangle- The mysterious Bermuda Triangle Legend which began with the disapearance of 5 Navy bombers % 14 crew members that vanished in December of 1945 off the Atlantic Coast of Florida. One investigator has located one of the WWII fighter-bombers submerged 30 miles off Cape-Canaveral. Interesting story.
Mothman- Story of a mysterious creature that plagues a small town in West Virginia, leaving residents to ponder, is it an alien, a mutant being, or the fulfillment of an ancient curse? This is the true story behind the movie starring Richard Gere.

Overall excellent collection of Stories, Highly Recomended, Enjoy.

At that time, I was only 13 but was intrigued by the ghost and Ufo Stories. The early seasons had many Legend stories about possible hidden treasures. There must have been atleast 3 or 4 hidden treasure stories that were omitted by this boxed set. My favorite was the one about a Gold Buddha Statue worth millions in the Phillipines but later was taken by the Phillipine government. In addition, others left out were the Mummy's curse (many killed after touching ancient egyptian artifacts), Ice Man(a primitive man put on exhibition), Chupacabris, loch ness in Upstate NY, other loch ness story in Canada. They could have omitted the Agatha Christie, RFK Pix, and the Elvis Twin stories and put the ones that I mentioned. Maybe the produces John Cosgrove and Terry Meurer will do a second Legends boxed set? But overall, it is a good set and will please the fans of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars What An Eerie Series..., June 22, 2006

Dear Amazonians,

I must say, that when I saw my first episode of the Unsolved Mysteries series, I was utterly spellbound. How creepy and awe-inspiring that a show would be made about the worlds most intriguing and perplexing phenomena. To this day, I still love the mystique that surrounds this program, and adore Robert Stack, as one of the greatest hosts of all time! I was saddened to learn of his death a few years back.

My interest in ghosts was spawned by this part of the series. I had always wondered whether there indeed are spirits that live on after death. "Gordy's Ghost" is one of my favorite episodes, as it tells the story of a young girl who one day sees the ghost of a strange man. The girl would talk to this ghost as though he was a real person, interacting with him in a very human way. It was later, however, when the girl told her family of her new friend, that his true identity was learned, and that it was discovered that the man had passed on many years previously. Identifying himself to the girl as "Gordy," the girl was never afraid or suspicious of him, always trusting him as if he were a lifelong friend. Truly mystifying!

I have recently performed a Google Web search, and learned that the "Chupacabra" segment is episode #385, one I have been looking for, for some time. I had not been able to locate this episode on the "Ghosts" set. If any of you readers might know which set episode 385 is on, please do provide this information, as I know that I am not the only Unsolved Mysteries fan who is looking for it!

I still get goosebumps when I think of the shows that I have seen in this series. I think Unsolved Mysteries will forever live on as one of the greatest programs to grace television.

Enjoy in Good Health,

--Daniel

This review is from: Unsolved Mysteries: Strange Legends (DVD)
This is a decent collection from Unsolved Mysteries containing strange legends, or as it appears on screen "mysterious legends." Although some segments like "Elvis' Twin", "Eliot Ness", "Sonny Liston" and "Who Killed Superman?" don't really belong in this collection, they are slightly interesting. Certain segments like "Alcatraz", "Mothman", and "DB Cooper" are excellent while others like "Sonny Liston", "Anastasia" and "Elvis' Twin" I found to be boring. My only complaint is that the DVDs do not use the original haunting theme music that I remember from the early seasons, they use the updated music from the later seasons.

The following is a rating of each segment.

5/5 = excellent

some of the stories were good but alot were BORING! I hope they make another volume of LEGENDS because there were alot of good ones they left out. And on the case there is a picture of the great pyramids of Egypt and yet none of the stories have the pyramids. There were more bigfoot and lockness monster ones that they didn't include. And they didn't even have the Chupopagra one! That was one of the best!

This review is from: Unsolved Mysteries: Strange Legends (DVD)
This set has too many murder stories. Also, in the "Bermuda Triangle" segment, Robert Stack's narration incorrectly states that Challenger exploded January 19, 1986, when in fact it was January 28. In addition, there is a "Bigfoot II" segment, but no "Bigfoot I." But it is still very good, "Mothman" and the political stuff are the best.

This review is from: Unsolved Mysteries: Strange Legends (DVD)
I've been searching for the chupacabra story for some time, but I think you're mistaken that it's on the ghost set. If you know where it is, I'd love to know. Thanks.

Anyway, these are great, great stories, but I can name a few that are missing, like the great one about the carnival attraction that had a real ice man/caveman in it.
