More About the Author

I am originally from a small town in Tennessee by the name of Columbia which is about 50 miles south of Nashville, TN. I have lived in
La Vergne, Tennessee with my husband of fifteen years and two young daughters for approximately 11 years. I started writing after reminiscing with a relative about our wild college days while attending college at Tennessee State University in the 1980s. It was those experiences, that inspired me to write my debut novel, 'ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS' in 2001. I've been blessed to be a two time Essence Magazine Best-selling Author. I'm also blessed to have my 5th and 6th novel released this year. Five of my novels are published by Strebor Books Int'l Inc., and my 6th novel by Q'Boro Books. The sequel to ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS is BEEN THERE DONE THAT, which was released in 2003. My 3rd novel, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND was released in July 2004. Part four of the series titled WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER was released in October 2005.

I'm presently anticipating the release of BROTHERLY LOVE in July 2006 in which I will introduce readers to some new and even more exciting characters. Thank Goodness Darrien is finished with her teen books, because I have been dying to read some of her Adult fiction books. This was part II to her book she did a few years back "Brotherly Love" and it picks right back up with all the drama that it left off with. I love how her books flow so smoothly and there is not a dry storyline in the book. Cherise and her husband Mason are back being the loving couple they were before the drama but drama has a way of creeping up in there lives. Vincent is still in love with his brother's wife but starts up a relationship with Elizabeth who is no fool and can sense that something is not right. This was a page turner from beginning to the end and if you haven't read any of her other books you should get them all of her characters are professional black people and I love that.

Let me start by saying how much I love Ms. Lee's work. I've been a fan of hers since the "All That and a Bag of Chips" series with Craig and Vernice. I thought there should have been a sequel to Brotherly Love with the way it ended, but wasn't for sure. I read this book in one day and ejoyed everything about it: the drama, the strongholds, and yes even the sex (it was not too graphic, but yet steamy enough). However, I didn't know Mason was that deep in adultery as explained in Unspoken Lies. You would have thought the adultery started with his undercover work in Brotherly Love. But in any case, I found Mason to be a weak man throughout the book. This book should have been about the Unspoken Truth which is, the marriage between CJ and Mason has long since been over; but yet they were trying to make it work for the sake of the kids. Mason knew he had a weakness for women, one in particular, but wouldn't tell CJ the truth. Mason also knew who was "sexting" him and wouldn't say. And the drugs, since when did Mason started dabbling with drugs?! There was so much you learned in this book that wasn't brought to light in the prequel. You wouldn't have ever thought this of Mason's character. However, I was glad to see that Vincent and Mason was able to keep their Brotherly Love in spite of certain situations and the drama.

Overall, an excellently written book. It ended like there may be a sequel. If so, pleeease Ms. Lee don't keep us waiting.

After Darrien Lee left her fans hanging on the edge for four years she finally wraps up the conclusion to Brotherly Love. This book was great from the beginning to the end. We revisit Cherise a.k.a C.J., Vincent, and Mason after a few years. Cherise and Mason are trying to be the happy couple and work on their shaky marriage but Vincent is still madly in love with Cherise. Vincent is trying so hard to move on with his life by dating the beautiful Elizabeth just so that he can let his brother and his sister-in-law move on but he just can't seem to let go of his feelings for C.J. This story was great from the beginning all the way to the end from the deception to the many twists and turns. Great Job Mrs. Lee I love all of your books can't wait for the next book.
