A spark of an idea turned into a bad novel,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Unspoken Power of Rome (Hardcover)
While the rough outline of this far-out idea may have made for an interesting novel in the hands of an experienced and accomplished writer, the final product here falls short by a wide margin. Without arguing any theological, or even logical, points, suffice it to say that this book is the most poorly written novel I have ever had the great displeasure to read. Word usage is often incorrect, the narrative is not fluid and the imagery is reminiscent of a high school term paper. Who edited this book, anyway?

Amazon Review by Marc Sadowski,
This review is from: The Unspoken Power of Rome (Hardcover)
Sweet Jesus! No pun intended...or is it? This book was quite the read, and it's nothing what I though it would be. I was expecting this book to resemble Gladiator. Instead, I was treated to some good, creative alternate history action. But even the phrase alternate history is not an appropriate word to describe this novel on the Roman's sway in early Christianity. It has to be one of those books that you have to read to truly appreciate. Benning writes this in what I like to refer to as a genre-less genre - which means that you don't need to associate this book with any genre to truly like it. Just be ready for it. You might learn something!
