"This wonderful book will give you the boost toward success that can make all the difference!" -- Brian Tracy, author, --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
From the Author
One of the NLP presuppositions is that since we all share the same neurology, that means whatever anyone can do, you can do as well provided that you direct your mind in exactly the same way. That means if something is possible for others, its possible for you too. If confidence is possible for others (and it definitely is), it is definitely possible for you too. Using NLP methods, I have modeled very confident people and included what they do in this book. By doing what they do, you will achieve the same resourceful states of confidence that they have. From how confident people think about things to how they speak to how they carry their bodies, you will find in this book how confident people move through the world. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I have not yet come across any other book, which focuses 100% on building greater confidence. This book gives you step by step detailed instructions to really "go for it".
Kent clearly explains the crucial difference between "confidence" and "competence" in the first few pages. I made the mistake of assuming that if I was competent in a specific area, than I automatically had confidence in that area.
Once you understand the distinction he gives a simple but highly effective formula
Competence + confidence = success
Have you ever had the feeling of a light bulb switching on in your head? Well I had that same feeling when I really understood the difference between "confidence" and "competence" and resolved to take the book more seriously.
On page 27 he gives a fantastic example about how to disassociate your emotions from yourself personally. In other words DONT take possession of something, which is just a mental process. Some examples of mental processes from the book are fear, shyness and depression. All of these are not actual things but just mental processes or sequences of thoughts that run in your mind.
A brilliant example and I quote from the book (page 26) "The language you use to describe what you are feeling impacts that feeling tremendously, and it is your knowledge, your awareness of these processes that gives you power over them. Just like when somebody said, "I' am depressed". What they've done is built that notion into their very being. Nobody can be depressed all the time. If they were, they wouldn't' call it depression. It'd just be their normal state of being.Read more ›
He goes from a person who literally felt he did not have the ability to really connect with other people at a deep level (he escapes by burying himself in books) to teaching classes on how to be confident. In the process he learns about his inner desires, how to gain what he really wants out of life and how to give what he has learned to the world in this amazing book.
So much of what he said made complete sense. Especially the part where he notes how people who are living the lives of their dreams, are doing so by design. They have learned to release themselves from disempowered language (try, should, etc.) and have embraced fast forward phrases (I absolutely can, I certainly will, It definitely will happen.) The reason it works is because confidence causes your dreams to come true. You set in motion a magical series of events that naturally will lead you to your goal.
Today when my husband used the word: "try" in a sentence, alarms went off. Not only did I completely see how this book could change a life, it was already being put in action in my own mind as I asked him to say "will." In that way, he "would" reach his goal and be more determined. Had I not read this book, I can't say I would have even blinked!
"You realize that anything in your path that seems like an obstacle or a detour really is an opportunity in disguise to show your resourcefulness." -pg. 6
