"Grace is a spunky, independent, nature girl who doesn't need a boy to save her. With wilderness survival, a juicy love triangle, and more twists and turns than a roller coaster, this fast-paced novel had me holding my breath until the very last page--and still begging for more!" - Kimberly Derting (author of the popular Body Finder series)
Johannes has done a marvelous job of creating a suspense-filled mystery with surprises that keep you guessing all the way to the end. Untraceable is a thoroughly engrossing and riveting page-turner."- IndieReader
"This story is action-packed and very funny in some parts. There is even a bit of young romance...There is a strong message of wildlife conservation, so it is somewhat educational in that aspect." - Reviewed by Molly Burkemper for "Readers Favorite"
2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Quarterfinalist (under the original title of Grace Under Fire) - Judges Reviews:
"This story starts out with a bang...it reads like the young woman were narrating it to a friend, and had the ring of a young person's style and intensity. Original in premise and style, and good use of background...Good story!" - Sue Grafton, author of bestselling Kinsey Milhone series
"This murder mystery .. moves along at a brisk clip, and it feels as if we already have some important clues. We look forward to seeing what's in the case file and what Grace and her motorbike, Luci, will be up to next." - Sue Monk Kidd, author of Secret Life of Bees
From the Author
When I started this series, I had no idea if it would ever see the light of day. I needed to continue publishing books in the Nature of Grace series with the hope of making a difference in this world.
This time, Unstoppable spotlights the plight of the Florida panther as well as the problem of pop-up roadside zoos. The Florida Panthers once roamed freely, but are at the top of the long list of endangered animals.
The idea to take Grace to the Everglades was an easy one. I grew up in Vero Beach, Florida and we used to visit the Everglades and swamps when I was little. I remember the time my dad took my brother and me hiking in the swamps at dusk. We walked out on an old crickedy wooden bridge with nothing between us and the alligators. The thing that sticks out to me the most is seeing the glowing eyes in the water. I was terrified that day and am sure those alligators were hoping for an early dinner.
Uncontrollable is my way of shedding a ray of light on a problem we don't know much about. The problem surrounding roadside zoos is alive and well. The limited and loose restrictions on purchasing wild or exotic animals is a real one.
With this book, I hope to create awareness around their story and struggles.
Just as in Untraceable and Uncontrollable, this book is still thrilling and mysterious with a strong girl character, two hot boys, and some great kissing. :) But in the end, my underlying purpose is to inform my readers of atrocities to animals and nature.
I hope you like reading Unstoppable as much as the first two. If you find yourself bothered or angry with some of the issues discussed/raised in this book, please see my "Call to Action" section so you can find your own way of making a difference, big or small.
