Editorial Reviews

"This thrilling story is a dramatic entanglement of mystery, deception and teen romance.  The action flows like a brisk mountain stream interspersed with rapids, holding suspense to last page."
Kirkus Review

"Grace is a spunky, independent, nature girl who doesn't need a boy to save her. With wilderness survival, a juicy love triangle, and more twists and turns than a roller coaster, this fast-paced novel had me holding my breath until the very last page--and still begging for more!" - Kimberly Derting (author of the popular Body Finder series)

Johannes has done a marvelous job of creating a suspense-filled mystery with surprises that keep you guessing all the way to the end. Untraceable is a thoroughly engrossing and riveting page-turner."- IndieReader

"This story is action-packed and very funny in some parts. There is even a bit of young romance...There is a strong message of wildlife conservation, so it is somewhat educational in that aspect." Reviewed by Molly Burkemper for "Readers Favorite"

2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Quarterfinalist (under the original title of Grace Under Fire) - Judges Reviews:

"This story starts out with a reads like the young woman were narrating it to a friend, and had the ring of a young person's style and intensity. Original in premise and style, and good use of background...Good story!" - Sue Grafton, author of bestselling Kinsey Milhone series

"This murder mystery .. moves along at a brisk clip, and it feels as if we already have some important clues. We look forward to seeing what's in the case file and what Grace and her motorbike, Luci, will be up to next." - Sue Monk Kidd, author of Secret Life of Bees

From the Author

Dear Reader,
When I started this series, I had no idea if it would ever see the light of day. I needed to continue publishing books in the Nature of Grace series with the hope of making a difference in this world.
This time, Unstoppable spotlights the plight of the Florida panther as well as the problem of pop-up roadside zoos. The Florida Panthers once roamed freely, but are at the top of the long list of endangered animals.
The idea to take Grace to the Everglades was an easy one. I grew up in Vero Beach, Florida and we used to visit the Everglades and swamps when I was little. I remember the time my dad took my brother and me hiking in the swamps at dusk. We walked out on an old crickedy wooden bridge with nothing between us and the alligators. The thing that sticks out to me the most is seeing the glowing eyes in the water. I was terrified that day and am sure those alligators were hoping for an early dinner.
Uncontrollable is my way of shedding a ray of light on a problem we don't know much about. The problem surrounding roadside zoos is alive and well. The limited and loose restrictions on purchasing wild or exotic animals is a real one.
With this book, I hope to create awareness around their story and struggles.
Just as in Untraceable and Uncontrollable, this book is still thrilling and mysterious with a strong girl character, two hot boys, and some great kissing. :) But in the end, my underlying purpose is to inform my readers of atrocities to animals and nature.
I hope you like reading Unstoppable as much as the first two. If you find yourself bothered or angry with some of the issues discussed/raised in this book, please see my "Call to Action" section so you can find your own way of making a difference, big or small.
I would love to hear from you anytime! I make an effort to respond to reader and blogger email timely. After all, you all are the reason I write! Feel free to email me or visit me at my web site where you can sign up for my newsletter or street team.

Grace has been through a lot of emotions and adventures in the first two books. So Grace's mom, and Grandma Birdie decide that she should stay at Grandma Birdie's place in the Everglades, when her mom searches for a new house. Grace quickly becomes friends with Dylan, and his girlfriend, Sadie. I really liked how Grace finally has new friends in this book, I always thought she needed better friends because her old friends were meaning my opinion. Grace is out of her element, because she is living in the Florida Everglades, and dealing with roadside zoos, which she had never dealt with before. It was interesting how Grace evolved to fit her new surroundings. She had to deal with all the new animals in the Everglades, and try to survive an crazy man with huge (pet) liger. This is a thriller, so there are deaths in this book, just to warn you. I really enjoyed how Grace's comfort zone is tested in the Everglades. With the crazy man hunt game in the Everglades, you will not stop reading until you reach the end of the book! I read this book in one sitting! The third book in this series will not disappoint you! SO go buy it, especially if you read the first two books! If you have not read the first two books: Untraceable( #1), and Uncontrollable( #2), I highly recommend you read those books first!

Feeling privileged to have been given the chance to read this early. This is my favorite Grace book, she's feisty and smarter than ever. Birdie' s pet bird makes a return appearance as Grace moves in with her grandmother. The bird makes for wonderful comic relief. Now living in the Glades to be safe from Al Smith she's still determined to protect the wildlife. Having met some new friends she is quickly caught up in a hunt unlike any other. You'll find this book quick and the story gripping. There will definitely be more Grace stories and I can't wait to read them.

I love Grace's endurance to get through all the traumatic events that have occurred in this series. She is very head strong and not afraid of most things. Grace has so much strength and love for family, friends, nature, and wildlife along with the will of survival.
In this story you will also find heartache, loss, and love, couldn't ask for more.
I really loved how this book also makes a person aware of the animal cruelty that is out there and gives a lot of info on it as well.

Wow! Pardon the pun, but SR Johannes is Unstoppable! Once again this author has delivered a page turning frenzy with one thrill after the other! This book is definitely my favourite of the series so far, which is a pretty high compliment coming from me, as I loved every installment so far. This is one of those rare books that I wish I could give an extra star to, just because it's that much more awesome than some other books I've rated 5 stars.

Within the course of these pages, Grace goes from a girl that's fighting with a feisty parrot to a warrior that is sucking venom out of a friend's leg and surviving being attacked by not one, not two, but THREE men that are trying to kill her. Whoa! That's a lot to take in, yet Grace works through each conflict with a strength that is uncommonly found in a teenager.

Once again, Birdee is freaking amazing. She's one of my favourite characters out of all the books I've read. She's so quirky that I doubt I would have been able to *not* fall in love with her. I also grew to love a new character in the series, Sadie. I'm happy for Grace to have become such great friends with another nature-oriented gal, even if their friendship was forged in the midst of them battling for their lives.

Overall, a fantastic read that I wasn't able to put down!

I love Grace. She is such a spunky little thing. This series is exciting and suspenseful with lots of twists and turns. If you enjoy the outdoors, these books have it all: the mountains, the Everglades, bears, snakes, alligators, mountain lions and even a sweet little momma monkey. Grace has been brought up to respect nature and to love animals - even those that could possibly eat her. Grace has learned all kinds of survival skills which, of course, she has to use in the situations she gets herself in. She is smart, resourceful and very brave. Over the three books, she loses people - her father and some of her friends, but she also finds new friends who she connects with immediately. She is a conservationist who brings animal abuse to the attention of us all. As I said before, these books are very exciting. There are also relationships, but not mushy ones. Things are implied, but unless your imagination goes there, you won't blush too much. A great book for teenagers and young adults who enjoy nature and preserving our wildlife.

The Nature of Grace is an excellent series for Young Adults of all ages. Almost anyone can relate to Grace. She is self-reliant, tough, stubborn, with a heart of gold. Especially, when it comes to our wildlife. Show her animals in trouble and she's there and willing to help. Problem is, Grace has got some enemies of her own, enemies, that don't play fair, and play to kill! There is some very sweet romance in this series between Grace and Mo and Dylan and Sadie. Each book contains different endangered animals in different environments. Not only is there danger, excitement, and romance, but also plenty of education in each book. Also, at the end of each book, S.H. Johannes lists a number of organizations and websites etc......which you can contact to donate money, time, etc... To help these different animal causes. This is a wonderful series and one of the few I've ever seen that allows you, the reader, to do something important for the world after or while you're reading. Save Our Wildlife One Book at a Time! Thank-you! Critterlady9
