Consistancy = Awesomeness,
This review is from: Unstoppable (Audio CD)
The Planet Smasher's latest CD is a superb addition to their already stellar discography. Any PS fan will not be disappointed with the songs on this CD, they uphold that really great reggae/rock blend from Mighty. The songs "Here Come the Mods" and "Bullets to the Ground" resemble the feel of "Missionary's Downfall" and "Giants" upholds the slower feel of "Wish I Were American." Definetely a good CD for any ska collection.

Well i purchased this disc from a local shop, after hearing some of their stuff on the net. I am no stranger to ska music, and am a huge fan of Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, MU330, etc. THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING! They are so much fun to listen to! Every song on this disc is great! I have had it for about a month now and cant stop listening to it! Standout tracks include the title track "unstoppable", "raise your glass" is a fantastic fun drinking song, "Giants" is very relaxing and melodic, and all in all there are no bad songs! If anyone is interested in some good ska, with catchy tunes/lyrics, this is definately worth checking out!

I am a huge Planet Smasher fans and have really enjoyed some of their earlier work like their self titled debut and Life of the Party. I think they are one of the best ska bands out there and they have, for the most part, an excellent discography. I have tried to like Unstoppable and find a few songs to be pretty good and there aren't any real stinkers, but this album doesn't really shine. Where are the funny cheeky songs? Where is the tight ska riffs? It seems like they have tried to progress, but left some of the best part of the Planet Smasher behind.
If you are a ska fan would recommend starting from the beginning and working forward with these guys: Plant Smasher, Attack of the Planet Smasher and Life of the Party are all world class ska albums. |
