Book Description

December 1990
A romantic melodrama set in London and the Cotswolds of the Regency period. As the title implies, the heroine is unconventional and is beset by villains and silly relations. The other main protagonist is a handsome, sardonic Earl. June Drummond is also the author of "The Bluestocking".

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This gently paced Regency romance centers on intrigue involving three elderly survivors of a 100-member tontine. Lord Linslade, a veteran bachelor considered the most eligible in England, falls for the spirited Lucilla Pelham. Miss Pelham's unsuitability stems from the fact that her family has been on the outs with his since her cousin and his sister botched an elopement 15 years earlier. Not at all surprisingly, Linslade explains away the family feud as well as the problem with the tontine in time to claim Miss Pelham's hand at the height of her London season. Standard fare for the genre.
