It may not fall under the category of laugh out loud funny like American Dad, or South Park, but it does however have some lovable characters. The show is about two best friends, Gary and Joel, in High School trying to stay positive and inspire one another while life throws them some common and unusual curveballs. The two kids seem relatively innocent and yet very open minded, mostly though they just want to do whatever would be "friggin' awesome!" I would say that if you like a show like Bob's Burgers where most of the humor is in the dialogue rather than visual gags like Family Guy, Napoleon Dynamite, and every other "adult" cartoon, check out Unsupervised!

Its your usual dynamic of 4 friends and the hijinks they're febel minds get them into on a daily bassis, the difference for me is the dialougue between the main two characters, always passionate and optimistic about everything almost always to a fault. Something about that adds a certain charm, since these shows usually perpetuate violence and toilet humor.. There is cursing, but its in good natured. Im not fully sure why I can't get enough of this show, i can literally just turn this on and let it play in the background while im doing other things around my room. Not to mention Russ Brown... Love when he pops up and drops off a gem for the listening viewers.

This show should have been renewed for a second season, seriously a completely original series, I find myself watching the old episodes and wishing there was more. I don't know who gave this show bad reviews but they must not "get" what unsupervised is all about. Growing up as a kid I knew many friends who were in this situation, aka poor and unsupervised, only these 2 are completely optimistic given there situations. Please FX renew this!!!!

Unsupervised is one of my favorite shows and has replaced other top tier entertainment like Always Sunny and Shameless as my preferred show. I love the fact that these guys are always trying to make the best of their situation (it can be rough). I hope season 2 is in the works.

Having watched the entire show's run, over and over again (like seriously a million times), the writing by show creators and Always Sunny alums Hornsby, Marder and Rosell excels at characterization. Each character and situation are original but at the same time archetypal and relatable. We all know someone like the gross kid, Russ Brown, with his dirt-caked hair, coke-bottle glasses and constant wearing of what I'm pretty sure is a bathing suit. Even before he starts sniffing his cast, he comes across like a good-natured Burris Ewell but, like so many of the other denizens of Maynard, he proves to be simultaneously both exactly what you expect and yet totally unique. Russ may be totally disgusting and have the posture of mangy stray, using his "dick fingers" to eat lasagna or admitting that he has secrets that are "bone chillin'" that nobody can know, what comes across, invariably, with all the characters, are good hearts. These three-dimensional characterizations manage to come together and create a show that, despite being ostensibly about the travails and decline of America's abandoned/alienated youth, is hopelessly optimistic.

I didn't like it when it first aired, but now I can't get enough of the characters. It'll be a lost classic.
