Ivy League Expert Advice,
By
This review is from: Untangling the Ivy League (College Prowler) (College Prowler: Untangling the Ivy League) (Paperback)
"It's loaded with expert advice on getting in, packed with student quotes on academics and social life and filled with the latest tips on going to an Ivy League school. Untangling the Ivy is organized remarkably well and written in an easy to read language. The advice offered on getting in (how to interview, write an essay, visit a campus, complete your application) would prove helpful to anyone applying to a selective school. 5 stars!"

Great read... the Ivy League novel,
By
This review is from: Untangling the Ivy League (College Prowler) (College Prowler: Untangling the Ivy League) (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book that captures a lot of the different aspects of the world-famous Ivy League... only through a new perspective. The book, written by Cornell Alumni Marc Zawel, gives you the students perspective on the workings of the Ivy League colleges. Instead of being just another guy giving you a mundane surface walk over the already overstated famous schools, the new approach taken by Zawel is to touch upon the reality of the situation by addressing it staright from the roots. Several Ivy League students and professors were among those who contributed to the various wonderful passages of this exciting read. The work is less of a sober collection of already known facts than it is a collective set of first hand experiences, views, and perspectives, given by those who are most qualified to say anything about the Ivy League in the first place... those that are there; the people who make it what it is. The read is a good one, which won't take you long, as it reels you in fast and keeps you comming back for more. I highly recommend this book... you'll see the Ivy League in a whole new light.

An excellent resource,

I've just received my copy of Untangling the Ivy League. It is by far the MOST comprehensive college guidebook out there focusing on these eight schools. The first half of the book talks about history, athletics, Greek systems, admissions, government, all the general stuff associated with the Ivy League. The second half of the book is broken down into eight tabbed chapters, one for each school, packed with info and student quotes. Best of all, the entire book has been written by Ivy students and alumni, giving you a real insider's look. This College Prowler guide is much better than those put out by Princeton Review, Barron's, etc. etc.

Proud to be Ivy,

This book is incredible! There are so many facts, figures, anecdotes, statistics etc. about The Ivy League (PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE) in this book that I was not aware of until now--and I am a Junior at Dartmouth--I attended Yale for a year, and I have visted four other Ivy schools on several occasions. After looking over College Prowler's grading criteria for each of the eight school sections, I determined that their grades and analysis on each aspect of each individual school (including: Academics, Local Atmosphere, Nightlife/Social Scene, Campus Strictness, Athletics, Drug Scene, Overall Experience, and even Parking) are actually very accurate and on-point. College Prowler has seemingly gained credibility over other Ivy League college resources, because they utilize actual Ivy students to author their individual guidebooks--which is why "Untangling" is a steal for under $20, because it includes content from each of the eight individual guides within.

Wow-- this is this honestly the best book about college ever... EVER. I am graduating high school next month and I read this book as soon as it came out, and it helped me get into my top choice! There is so much information in here, I even made my older brother read it, and even though he graduated from college already he said it was a really great book, very interesting and lots of facts you never would have known.

As a high school senior applying to college, I've looked at a lot of college guidebooks. Untangling the Ivy League has by far been the most helpful, especially the admissions chapter. It really offered insight and advice about life at all the Ivy League schools that I've not seen or read anywhere else. I'd definitely recommend this book.

College Prowler puts out some great guidebooks, they're all written by current students so readers are given a real insider's look at these schools. The guidebooks typically retail for $14.95 each. For those who are looking at one or all eight Ivy League schools, this book is a great value. You're basically getting eight guides in one, not to mention bonus chapters on admissions, athletics, secret societies and more. I've been flipping through this book since buying it from Amazon and have to say I'm quite pleased with my purchase. I'd recommend it to those currently in the midst of the college admissions process!
