Classic Mattea!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Untasted Honey (Audio CD)
"Untasted Honey" is a superb album! Kathy Mattea combines the somewhat haunting ballad "Battle Hymn of Love" with the rollicking "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses." Both songs are great reminders of who we are when we're in love and far away. Share this album with your county sweetheart--you'll be glad you did!

A classic album,

This might be Kathy's strongest album. It contains five country hits including some of her most famous song. The five hits can all be found on A collection of hits, so if you've got that album, there's only five songs here that you haven't got - but they are also worth hearing. Like Kathy's previous album, Walk the wind blows, there is a wonderful mix of upbeat songs and ballads, rooted in traditional country but with folk and bluegrass influences and all given just enough of a contemporary feel to appeal to the widest possible fan base. The hits were Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses, Going gone, Untold stories, Life as we knew it and a duet with Tim O'Brien, The battle hymn of love. You surely know at least some of these songs if you're thinking of buying this now. The other songs are Late in the day (a soft, reflective ballad), the title track (about the end of a relationship), Like a hurricane (a fine mid-tempo song - not so much a hurricane as a stiff breeze), As long as I have a heart and Every love (two excellent ballads to finish the set). With half the songs included on A collection of hits, this album cannot be regarded as essential by any but the most committed fan of Kathy's music, yet there is no denying that this is one of Kathy's strongest albums. Of course, if you buy this together with Walk the way the wind blows, Willow in the wind and Time passes by, you'll have all Kathy's hits of the eighties and won't need A collection of hits.

every song on this CD is a winner, I give each song an individual 5 stars ! I had this CD before I moved across country, but it was lost in transition. I'm greatly happy it is still available!!! The CD is both inspiring and uplifting !!!!! I play the music the whole time I'm shopping on line or checking my EMAIL. Thank you Kathy for putting your music out there !!! Sincerely, Beverly Joseph
