Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
McGuire's third thriller (after Until Proven Guilty and Until Justice Is Done) starts with a bang-literally-and never lets up. Someone is incinerating men during bondage sex, someone who may also be linked to a bomb that goes off in a courtroom. Deputy district attorney Kathryn Mackay is shocked when the blast seriously injures a colleague, but must proceed with the prosecution of a high-profile case against a man accused of deliberately infecting women with HIV. The investigation into the ongoing series of sex murders is paralleled by the tension of the courtroom scenes, and by Kathryn's own anxiety when she discovers a lump in her breast. McGuire, an experienced criminal prosecutor, provides fascinating forensic details and juggles her plotlines skillfully, never sacrificing clarity, as the book speeds to its conclusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great new find!, October 9, 1997
By A Customer
After stumbling upon this author, I quickly devoured all three of her novels. I am anxiously awaiting more! After becomming disillusioned with Patricia Cornwell, I was glad to find a new female writer who could capture my attention. I think her writing is new and fresh. She incorporates a mystery with showing a woman who has to juggle a career, daughter, and on-again, off-again lover. She manages all this with the stress of a modern woman. She finds she lets people down along the way, but punishes herself lightly, picking up and moving on to the next task. She is someone we all know, the only difference is, she tracks down murderers and prosecutes them. I anxiously await her newest novel! If you are looking for a pleasant change of pace, check out any of her three novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christine McGuire Has Done It Again, May 5, 1997
By A Customer
Christine Maguire, author of the Kathryn MacKay novels, has done it again. With PART III to the MacKay series, Maguire uncovers the affects of HIV on society. And she does this without losing reality for even a minute. Kathryn MacKay, is about to prosecute Richard Hudson, a man, infected with HIV. He is accused of attempted second degree murder by way of infecting (intentionally) three women with the virus. As the prosecution carries on, a series of bombings are happening and Kathryn must solve both cases, before anything gets out of hand... EVEN MORE.... PART IV is already in the works... STAY TUNED!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling page-turner!, March 28, 2001
By "sweetnsnooty" (Antioch, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This novel kept me guessing almost until the very end! This was such a great read that I just HAD to finish it in one sitting! What I like best about Ms. McGuire's writing is her inside knowledge and her ability to include at least two good plots in one book. Ms. McGuire will have a new book out in April 2001 - I'll be the first in line to get it! :-)
