5.0 out of 5 stars I CAN'T STOP PLAYING THIS CD April 12, 2005
Format:Audio CD
If you loved the music of Chic, Change, Linx, B.B.&Q. Band, and Delegation, this CD is for you. This is uptempo funk/disco/R&B party music reminiscent of the early 80s. The musicianship is flawless. My favorite tracks are "We Will Turn You On", which is Chic-style funk featuring the vocals of Luci Martin and Norma Jean of Chic; "Until The End of Time" samba-tinged funk (the musicanship is exceptional) and "Fly Away" Change-style early 80s dsico, which features the best vocal performances on the entire CD (Peter Simpson's vocal on this track is the highlight of the CD). This is not a house CD (boom ts boom ts boom ts boom ts), this is a funk/disco/R&B CD. If you are into metronomes, filter-sweeps, loops, 808s, acid leads, chopped-up vocals, and all that, this is an opportunity to discover the kind of music I grew up with in the late seventies and early eighties: slapped bass, thumping kicks, crisp snare, swirling rhodes, wild synthezer leads, frisky rhythm guitars, and soulful vocals. Make sure you have the air-conditioner on when you play this CD, you WILL sweat. I admit that the CD is pretty expensive. But it's worth every penny.
